Contemporary Teaching Strategies

Team Teaching Reflection:

One saying said “Matibay ang walis ‘pag ito ay nakabigkis”. Simple means,
broom can clean man trash easily if they are many and fixed. Similar to team teaching,
it consists of more than one teacher who shares responsibilities in the daily classroom
routine. In team teaching, we can carefully execute the plan and work accordingly. We
were able to target the most serious learning issues with the highest level of
pedagogical skill as a result of the team teaching, we were able to separate the class
according to their areas of weakness and ensure the maximum impact intervention
without increasing staff workload. Though I have no experienced in team teaching, I
figure out that this teaching strategy gives favorable advantage for teachers and
students as well. I believe that if this teaching strategy is implemented here in the
Philippines, we will be able to improve our educational quality. We will have ample and
quality time to make school related matters.

Microteaching Reflection:

Educators like us needs microteaching because it is vital for professional

development that helps us develop our knowledge, skills, and attitudes. Once I joined in
microteaching with my fellow co-teachers, I learned different teaching strategies which I
do not used in fast teaching experience. I also learned new ways to teach effectively.
Micro-teaching is extremely important because it assists educators in developing the
necessary skills. One of the primary benefits of micro-teaching is that student-teachers
concentrate on one specific, well-defined skill. The microteaching provides teachers
with immediate feedback that they can act on to improve the teaching strategies of the
teacher.
Individualized Instruction Reflection:

Individualized instruction is the best way to improve a student's ability and

performance in a specific subject. If my student is demotivated in the study, I can use
individualized teaching methods as part of my remediation program to help the students
understand the concept of the lesson. Students feel important in one-on-one learning
and are thus more willing to speak up about their problems. As a teacher, I can start any
conversation that will arouse students' interest and encourage them to speak up. Based
on the study, every student is different and has a different learning ability and that is the
reason why I always have time to teach individually for those students who have
learning difficulty especially in Math subject. Therefore, an individualized teaching
method makes much more sense to ensure the growth of students. It helps them
motivate because I make them feel important.

Flipped Classroom Reflection:

Flipped classroom style is difficult to apply nowadays since pandemic starting to

minimize its threat around the world or even in our locality. However, the flipped
classroom made teaching and learning possible because all teachers and students
could no longer rely solely on meeting in person. The advantage of flipped classroom
makes things possible for learning without having to attend in-person classes. I
observed during the pandemic, the effectiveness of flipped classroom teaching
demonstrated that this pedagogical approach can transcend time and location,
providing unparalleled flexibility for all teachers and students. In our case, where
internet access is erratic, we can still continue to incorporate elements of the flipped
classroom to reduce our workload by sending educational videos, power points,
modules and other e-learning materials outside of class time in order to make in-class
time a richer, more interactive learning experience. This has been applied in the school
where I am teaching so I really experienced this flipped classroom style.
