The Division for Ocean Affairs and Laws of the Sea of the office of legal affairs of the United Nations (OLA / DOALOS) is now accepting applications for the 2024
session of the United Nations – The Nippon Foundation Fellowship Programme. Offering funded opportunities for advanced training in the field of ocean affairs and
law of the sea and/or related disciplines including marine science.
Programme structure consist of two (2) phases: 1. a three months training phase with OLA / DOALOS and 2. a six months research and study phase

Candidates must:
. Between the age of 25 – 40
. Have at least a University degree or equivalent
. Ability to undertake advanced academic research & studies
. Mid-level government official or mid-level professional
. Dealing directly with ocean affairs & laws of the sea.
Eg. Implementation of UN Convention on law of the sea, establishment of maritime zones, sustainable development of oceans, national or regional ocean
policy, conservation and management of marine living resources, maritime transport & shipping, maritime security, preservation of marine environment.
