Harry Potter in real life?

January 24th

By Nomuunaa Ganbaatar

Welcome back, dear readers! It's been a while since our last adventure together,
and I'm thrilled to share my recent journey through the enchanting city of Edinburgh,
Scotland. For someone like me, enchanted by the world of wizards and spells since the age
of 12, this trip felt like a dream come true. As a full-time traveler, I'm always on the lookout
for unique destinations, and this one had a special place in my heart – the birthplace of
Harry Potter.

The journey to the magical world of Harry Potter began with a scenic train ride from
London to Edinburgh. The two-hour journey, offering breathtaking views of the British
countryside, cost me a mere £30.

It was important to dress appropriately once in Edinburgh in order to fully

experience the enchanted journey. I advise wearing comfortable shoes and packing in
layers because the weather in the city may be unpredictable and the Old Town's
cobblestone streets can be uneven.

My first stop was The Elephant House, the café where J.K. Rowling brought the
wizarding world to life. I could sense the same spirit that produced the series as I was
drinking coffee in this environment.

Next, I explored Greyfriars Kirkyard, a cemetery holding names reminiscent

of the wizarding world, and the charming Victoria Street and West Bow, which was my
favourite. The colorful buildings and winding streets wonderfully reflected the spirit of the
wizarding world. Don't forget your camera because these streets offer fantastic photo
opportunities.

Lunch was a highlight at The Spoon, a delightful restaurant with a cozy atmosphere.
I highly recommend trying the local specialty, haggis neeps and tatties, and booking a table
in advance, especially during peak hours. It sure was a popular place.

After lunch, I walked through the city, stumbling upon J.K. Rowling's handprints at
the City Chambers. Then, the day concluded with a visit to The Witches’ Well and the
Grassmarket area. The shops in the Grassmarket area offered a variety of wizarding-
themed merchandise, from wands to scarves. I couldn't resist bringing home a classic
Slytherin scarf, along with keychains and magnets for friends.
I am very grateful for the enchanting experience Edinburgh provided for me. With its
rich history, unpredictable weather, and undeniable charm, Edinburgh is a must-visit for
any Harry Potter fan. Until our next adventure, may your travels be filled with wonder and
magic!
