A HERO IN MY LIFE

OBJECTIVE

The Beatitudes are a set of guidelines that can lead us to true happiness. They are difficult to follow at
times but we can be more successful if we have a role model who leads a life that reflects the
Beatitudes. Your task is to show your admiration/love/respect towards a person/people who is/are older
than you, who has embodied the Beatitudes (even if they didn’t know they were doing it). When you
create this assignment, think about presenting it to them, in front of an audience…would they be proud
of what you have written about them? Whichever task you choose, you will be presenting in front of
your classmates.

CRITERIA

You Have Three Choices for this assignment:

Choice 1: An 8 Minute powerpoint presentation (can have presentation notes, but need to make
eye contact with the class, does not have to be completely memorized)

1. An Original title for your assignment

2. A section that introduces the person you will be talking about; consider writing about who they
are, your relation to them, etc (any information that would engage the audience in wanting to
know more about this person)
3. 2 sections that discuss 2 different stories which explain how they embody two specific beatitudes
4. Your final section is a Gratitude section. It is a section that thanks them and honours them. This
section should embody the core emotion of the assignment.
5. Throughout your assignment, use words/terms that have been used in this unit to show the
growth of your Catholic theology vocabulary.
6. Keep in mind that these assignments are most effective if they can evoke emotion from your
audience through the presentation.
7. Complete the brainstorming sections of the assignment.
8. You will need to submit a copy of your work online. In as much as you can, please submit a
PDF file, .doc file, or .docx file
