INTRODUCTION

In the past we received a few reports about slight oil leakages along the crankshaft, which
couldn't be stopped by normally taken countermeasures.

This Service Bulletin should be kept in a separate file in the control room. The respective pages or
tables of the Service Bulletin with modifications to the Operating Manual, Maintenance Manual
or Code Book should be copied and filed in the respective Manual or Book.

1. NEW DRIVING END PLATE WITH OIL BAFFLE

A solution was found in redesigning the oil baffle (code 1611/A103). The oil collector was
modified and a syphon was added.

If your engine also shows a persistent oil leakage, the existing arrangement can be exchanged by
a modified one to code 1611/B103.

This new oil baffle consists of the following parts:

Oil baffle in two parts Code 1611/B104
Hexagon fitted bolt Code 1611/A105
Hexagon nut Code 1611/A106
Washer Code 1611/A107

2. CRANKCASE VENT

A leakage along the crankshaft can also be caused by an increased crankcase pressure. If this
occurs, it is advisable to check whether the sieve in the crankcase ventilation is clogged or dirty
and if there is any sludge accumulation at the bottom of the vent casing.

Before the vent casing is reassembled, all the components have to be cleaned.

Sieve consists of: - Ring (Code 1601 / A103)

- Screen Web for Flame Trap (Code 1601 / A104)
