An oil pump is used for pumping oil of density ρ=860 kg/�3 at a rate of 50 L/s.
The inlet and outlet diameters of the pipe are 10 cm and 15cm respectively.
The pressure rise of oil in the pump is measured to be 200 kPa. If the motor
efficiency is 90 % and the mechanical efficiency of the pump is 80%,

Water inters a hydraulic turbine at a rate of 0.5 m3/s. Knowing that the diameters
of the inlet and outlet pipes are of same diameters and the elevation difference
across the turbine is negligible. If the pressure drop in the turbine is 200kPa. and
the combined turbine-generator efficiency is 80%.

The pump provides 20 kW of useful mechanical power to the water. The free
surface of the tank is 40m higher than the free surface of the river. The flow rate
of water is measured to be 40 L/s.

The frictional head loss in the piping system.
The amount of pumping power used to overcome this loss
