1)Tell me about your self

My name is Vijaykumar Rashimalalu and I am 27 years old.

For the past 3 years, I’ve been working as a Quality Assurance/ Quality Control Inspector at BSTS,
Bahrain.

I have some background in mechanical engineering, with a degree from Mumbai University. What really
got me into the field, though, is the internship I did at HPCL.

I even have two years of experience in the same profession in India, but I moved to Bahrain after
realizing that I would gain more industrial experience if I worked in the Middle East.

Additionally, I hope to gain some more knowledge and expand my experience across different
industries, which is why I intend to do masters in Industrial engineering.

Why you chose to attend your visa interview? Why not in India?

Well, officer, currently I am working for a Bahrain-based company whose primary job location is here in
Bahrain, and because of work commitments, I had to attend my visa interview in Bahrain.

2)Why US ?

The most important reason why I want to complete my Masters in USA is ,the education system in USA
is very much different from India, If we see here in India a student is given the choice of studying what
he wants but the institutions doesn’t offer everything what a student wants, because of this a lot of
students really don’t have the choice of selecting their area of interest , but whereas in USA there are a
very wide range of courses and subjects with flexible curriculum and more over we can gain a lot of
practical knowledge by the exposure to different people.

3)Why this Course?

This is the ideal time for me because I've gained significant amount of industrial exposure and to
advance my career from executive to mid-managerial level a master's degree is like a prerequisite; the
courses I have selected are specially designed to train working professionals like me who want to
accelerate their careers and know the latest trends in the industry.

4)Why this University?

Well officer, I was looking for an industrial engineering course with a specialization in quality
engineering, and WNEU has excellent courses in this subject that were specifically designed to retrain
working people like myself who want to advance in their careers and also this university has a well-
known dept name, They do a lot of research and have a lot of international publications. I feel this is a
great opportunity for me to learn from these professors.

Did you contact any professors? What are their names?

I know Mr. Zhaojun Li; he is an expert in reliability, quality, and safety engineering in product designs. He
has many publications, of which Applied Reliability Engineering and Risk Analysis: Probabilistic Models
are the two that pique my attention the most. I haven’t contacted him personally, but I am excited to
learn from him.

5)What are the other admits?

Apart from Western New England University, I have received conditional acceptance letters from the
University of Pacific, Cleveland State University and University of Dayton.

(Doubt! How many more universities have you applied to?)

6)Who are the sponsors? What is the Family Income? Have you Applied for the Education Loan?

My tuition fees and living expenses are partly being sponsored by my parents for about 50 lacs (approx.
$60,000), who have been diligently saving for my studies for several years and the rest we have
managed to secure a loan of Rs 30 lacs (approx. $35,000) from the Saraswat bank and also, we have Rs
71 lacs (approx. $85,000) amount of immovable asset which can be liquidated, if necessary, at any point
of time to fulfill my financial obligations.

Additionally, my university has granted me a housing scholarship of $5000 a year, which will help me
manage my living expenses in the United States.

My father is a businessman who runs a salon in Mumbai where he has worked for the past 28 years, and
my mother is a yoga instructor in Mumbai where roughly 30 students attend daily yoga sessions. Their
combined annual income is 12 lacs, with each earning 6 lacs per annum.

7)What are Future careers by this course ?

Well officer with the degree I have acquired in the US, I have vast career options in different industries,
including roles such as quality assurance engineer, logistics engineer, and process engineer in EPC
companies like TTSJV, TechnipFMC, Petrofac, and Technical Ruinidaas, which are considered the best
companies in my country to work with.

8) Are you interested in OPT? (optional practical training)

Well officer my primary goal is complete my masters and I do hope to secure an OPT after graduation to
gain work experience in the United States. If I get any chance I’d like to work as a Reliability engineer in
manufacturing companies as I intend to pursue a specialization in Quality Engineering course, and
gaining experience from US companies would be tremendously valuable for my skillset before returning
to India. While I’m sure OPT would provide great professional development opportunities, I absolutely
intend to return home once the program concludes. My aging parents still live there, so being closer to
them is really important to me in the long run.

9) What is the Course curriculum?

I must complete 9 credits of core courses in Advanced Engineering Statistics, Production, and Inventory
Modeling, as well as 3 credits in a core concentration and 12-15 credits of authorized electives. There
are two options for the remaining credits: Non-Thesis Option (3 cr) or Thesis Option (6 cr) for a 30-credit
program total.

10) Why should we give you a student visa?

An opportunity to study in the US won't just change my life; it will transform my community as well.
With the knowledge I will gain at the university, I can apply that to developing my country and creating
job opportunities for the unemployed. This is a chance to bring my country one step closer to being on
par with the rest of the world in the field I have chosen to study. A visa is my door to advancement and
growth. Also, being accepted by a university in the US means that the school believes that I have
something worthy to contribute to their program, so I won’t just be a liability to the United States.

11) What are your plans if your visa gets rejected?

Well, officer, this question is very disappointing to me, and yes, I believe that I am a genuine student
whose primary intentions are to complete my masters, and I will be projecting the correct financial
documents. My primary sponsors are my parents, who will be sponsoring my tuition fees as well as my
living expenses. Therefore, they will also be disappointed if my visa gets rejected, but I will respect the
decisions of the embassy and then reapply. This time I will prepare the necessary documents and try to
do better than I did today.

12) But you could earn more in the US? Why don’t you stay back and work there instead?

No, the opportunities in my home country are also good. With my qualifications I will get a well-paying
job here that can give me enough to take care of the cost of living in my country, which is lower than the
cost of living in the US. I would not want to work in the US.

13) What are your plans after this course?

I have developed very good relationships with my past companies and would like to come back after MS
and get into a higher responsibility techno-functional role once I am back.

14) What if you get the opportunity to work in the US?

15) How are you planning to repay the education loan?

16) Why are you leaving your current job?
