OPERATING PRINCIPLE
The instrument is driven by the configuration software, defining the
Eddy Current parameters for the application, such as measure settings
and alarm thresholds for flaw detection and sorting thresholds for sorting
version.

The signal analysis is performed entirely by the electronics of the instrument,


displaying the inspection results live.

The opto-isolated inputs/outputs of the device allow quick and easy interfacing with the
production line.

The compact Eddy Current instrument


designed for defects detection and material sorting.
Zet@Premium can support up to 2 inspection channels at high speed. Compact and easy to use, it
is suitable to the most common Eddy Current defects detection applications.

Zet@Premium Material Sorting is used to sort materials, measure the thickness of coatings or
thermo-chemical treatments, perform structural analysis and hardness measurement. It works with
up to 8 fundamental frequencies and analyzes up to 2 harmonics.

Zet@Premium is available in standard or rackable version to facilitate its integration on a production


line.

This fully automatized system consists of a


robust mechanical frame (with input/output
conveyors and a plate centering system) and
a control station with linear axis probe holders
and multi-channel Eddy Current equipment for
conductivity measurement.

The plate is being inspected on both sides


while going through the control station.
The results are displayed live and stored in the
Zet@Master for data post processing.

The rotating Head RotoETscan performs the detection of surface or
subsurface longitudinal defects at high speeds on circular parts.
The rotating head is often installed directly on the production line.
It is usually dedicated to the control of cylindrical products such as tubes, bars and wires, made of
ferrous or non-ferrous materials.
Some adjustments on the rotating head can be made to allow the inspection of smaller solids of
revolution parts such as piston pin, axes or shafts.

OPERATING PRINCIPLE
The product moves in translation through the rotating
head. Two or four Eddy Current probes inside the head
are then turning around the product to detect
longitudinal defects. The inspection is carried out with an
helical pitch. The results are displayed on the instrument
screen in a timebase and/or a lissajous figure.

MAGNETIZING UNITS
This inspection by magnetic saturation and
encircling coils allows the detection of short
and transverse flaws on ferromagnetic
materials (either on surface or sub surface).
Magnetic saturation is necessary to get rid of the impact a changing
material permeability has on the signal.

The opening version allows in-line or off-line inspection without having to


stop or cut a continuous product (available for ø 5 to 55 mm or 3/16 to 2”).

OPERATING PRINCIPLE
The product moves in translation through the magnetizing
unit. It is magnetically saturated to allow the encircling
coil inspection (located at the center of the unit).

This technique allows the control of bars, tubes or wire with a round, square or hexagonal
cross-section. Several angular sectors can be inspected with specific windings. The presence of a
short or transverse defect will change the coil’s impedance.
The result are displayed on the instrument screen, in a timebase and/or a lissajous figure.
The addition of a downstream demagnetizing unit is sometimes necessary to desaturate the
material after inspection.

Sectorial Magnetizing Units
This type of inspection allows to detect small flaws (holes and cracks) or
to identify discontinuities on welds.

This system produces magnetic saturation concentrated in the weld area, so that an Eddy Current
sectorial probe can inspect it.

It also performs long defects detection (discontinuities or incomplete weld fusion).

OPERATING PRINCIPLE
The welded tube passes under a sectorial probe
Coil

This type of equipment ensures accurate
positioning of coils, for the detection of surface
and sub surface, short and transverse defects
on non-magnetic products.
It is designed to be easily inserted on a production line.
It supports, centers and aligns the inspection coil with the

The product is passing through the encircling coil in translation.

This technique allows to control non-magnetic products such


as bars, tubes, or wire, of round, square or hexagonal section.

RAIL INSPECTION PROBES
The rail inspection can be done during the manufacturing (in-line), or
after installation, meaning directly on the railway thanks to an onboard
system.

RAIL INSPECTION ON PRODUCTION LINE


Here are some examples of Eddy Current testing performed in-line for rail profiles P50, P65, PK50, PK65, OP 50
and OP65 according to international standards (ASTM, API, DIN, SEP, EN 15548-1 and others).

Several rotating probes are placed around the rail in order to inspect its critical surfaces. Sectorial probes can
be added to control areas that are not covered already (rail ends for example). Each rotating instrument is
paired with a Zet@ Master generator.
An electronic system has been designed to compensate, for the distance variation between the rail and the
Eddy Current rotating probe. This non-linear gain is automatically and constantly applied to each channel of
the probe according to their position. These equipment probes can work at a very high speed
(up to 10 000 RPM).

OPERATING PRINCIPLE
Ultrasonic transducers are rotating in immersion at a very
high speed around a controlled product (tube, bar...). This
latter moves in translation through RotoUTscan rotating
head.
The combination of transducers rotation and product
translation results in an inspection with an helical pitch.
The transducers are adjustable in height and can be
extremely precisely rotated around three axes.
The transmission of the injection and reception signals
between rotor and stator is contactless (i.e. between the
fixed and the rotating part).

The Ultrasonic immersion tank provides scanning inspections carried out
with conventional Ultrasonic or Phased Array electronics.

OPERATING PRINCIPLE
The part to be inspected is immersed inside the water tank
which is supported by a sturdy stainless steel frame.

An industrial robot, programmable and capable of


movements on up to six axes, is installed on that frame.
The transducer moves in front of the Region Of Interest
(ROI) to inspect.
The highly accurate scanning process allows the operator
to go back on the detected defect with great precision
during post-processing.
Once the inspection has been carried out, a report is

BAR AND BILLET INSPECTION
The Ultrasonic Phased Array Bar Inspection System allows a very high
speed inspection of bars and billets.

Several sectorial Ultrasonic probes are installed inside cassettes with an overlap between each one
of them, allowing a 360° inspection of the product.
The arrangement of the sectorial probes and their type allow the detection of Flat Bottom Holes
(FBH), Side Drill Holes (SDH) or/and longitudinal defects.

OPERATING PRINCIPLE
The bar passes through the inspection tank and the probes blocks which contain the various
sectorial Phased Array transducers immersed in a constant volume of water.

There is also an automatic centering device inside the tank. The probe block has several degrees of
freedom allowing it to follow the bar and its geometric imperfections precisely.

The Phased Array technology uses sophisticated multi-element transducers and powerful Ultrasonic
generators to orient and focus the Ultrasonic beams without mechanical movement.

IN-LINE AUTOMATIC WELD CONTROL
After the welding station and before any shaping or further processing
of the tube, we can perform an Ultrasonic inspection with a focus on the
weld area to detect defects as soon as possible.
This application is often used for the in-line weld inspection of Electrical Resistance Welded tubes
(ERW).
The control station is installed right after the longitudinal welding of the tube and before any
shaping and cutting. It allows the detection of internal and external, longitudinal and transverse
defects, as well as lamination defects in the Heat Affected Zone (HAZ) on both sides of the weld.
It also measures the weld thickness.

For in-line weld inspection, several configurations are possible on diameters from 80 to 600mm
(3.2 to 23.6”) and a minimum thickness of 2mm (0.08”).

DIAMETER TUBES AND BARS
We offer a performing equipment to control large diameter tubes and
bars. Two solutions can be proposed: either by moving a testing bridge
over the product, or translating the product on a control bench.

These methods can perform full body inspections of seamless and ERW tubes, or bars.
Our system can detect longitudinal, transverse, oblique and lamination defects, as well as
dimensional and wall thickness measurements.

These Ultrasonic Phased Array equipment ensure great control accuracy and high productivity.

OPERATING PRINCIPLE
Ultrasonic inspection with a moving testing bridge:
The tube is conveyed and stopped on the roller track
beneath the testing bridge, and put into rotation.
The cylindrical Phased Array probes are then placed
over the tube. The control elements are all
independent and have their own compliance systems
to ensure optimal monitoring of the tube.
The inspection trolley travels the surface and controls
the product with a helical pitch.

RECORDVIEWER
The software is used to analyze, post-process and/or edit any
Eddy Current mesure points on an ongoing application.

Once the recording is loaded, Recordviewer allows to select signal portions, to analyse and
measure the phase, amplitude, signal-to-noise ratio (snr), and/or measure the background noise.

Any settings and parameters used to record the signal can be changed during post-processing to
improve the defects detection, to check the influence of each filters or to realize an FFT.

Finally, the software can be used to identify signal’s recurrences and to study the various defects
signatures.

PROBUS SUPERVISION
Supervision software used in Non-Destructive Testing applications,
particularly for inspection of tubes, bars and wires on a production line.

Its goal is to collect measures on various Non-destructive Testing elements, to display and to
analyze the signals, to make a sorting decision and to produce inspection reports.

Probus is the decision making element of the testing bench. It centralizes all the sensors data and
controls the actuators present on the line. The software communicates directly with the automation
of the control bench, as a Human Machine Interface (HMI).

It creates inspection reports for each product or batch. These reports can be used as proof of
control by quality departments and by customers.

OPERATING PRINCIPLE
During the control of a product, the Probus supervisor collects in real time the signals from the
sensors and transducers of all the NDT elements. These signals are displayed as strip charts,
representing every channel or each sensor/transducer (which can be grouped by control
elements).

Conformity thresholds (alarms) are set up for each channel. The value of every point of the strip
charts is compared with its corresponding predefined threshold. When a signal triggers the alarm,
an action is defined (marking of the part, good/bad sorting...).

At the end of the inspection, Probus creates a report (either by product and/or by batch) including
the list of controls and their charts, the main parameters of the inspection and the line, the good/
bad status of the product, the list of detected defects and their locations, as well as several
customizable fields for the operator.

The supervision software is also able to interact with the line and the control bench via a
dedicated communication. This allows to recover and display real-time data, but also to send in-
structions (speeds, encoders...) to manage alarms and finally to drive the actuators (motors, pumps,
good/bad sorting...).

Probus handles, the management of the standards giving the possibility to record the location of
calibrated defects. In a later time, an operator can select the standard to use, and Probus will
automatically detect and analyze the defects during the calibration run. A repeatability program
allows to check the measurements dispersion of all the control stations during a pre-selected
number of successive runs.
The statistical data of the dispersion during these runs, as well as their records, are saved in a table
that can be exported in csv format.

The various configurations of Probus make it a very powerful tool to manage the beginning/end of
inspections, the dead zones, the defects locations, and the follow-up of the production.
The extensive number of data gathered by Probus makes it essential for a smooth remote support, if
ever needed.

Probus is in permanent evolution with functions and performances constantly improving.

PROBUS VIEWER ANALYZER
This Probus extension allows to revisit signals of tubes, bars or standards
acquired during previous controls.

Probus Viewer Analyzer reloads past controls acquisition to post process them. It allows to select
portions of the signal, but also to carry out measurements and readings of amplitude,
signal-to-noise ratios or background noise measurements.

Many graphic options such as zooms and cursors are available in the software to provide a
thorough analysis of each strip chart.

ZHEIS (Zet@ Heat Exchanger Inspection Software) is a


software dedicated to the inspection of steam exchanger
tubes with Eddy Current internal probe.

Its simple interface makes it possible to generate the


topography of the exchanger by automatically adding
and positioning a list of tubes to be controlled. They are
then sorted in several categories according to the
inspection result (detection of deterioration, importance
or depth of the damage...)

At the end of the series of tests, ZHEIS generates an


inspection report quickly highlighting the results, showing
which tube will need maintenance on thanks to a color
code.

INTERNAL PROBE INSPECTION SOFTWARE


The software is designed for internal tube inspection,
using an additional mathematical channel created
