Climate change encompasses a wide array of issues, each with its own set of challenges,
impacts, and required responses. As I am a huge soccer fan, I have come to idolize many soccer
players and a recent interview of the former player of my favorite soccer team Arsenal has
impacted me in thinking about the climate issues we face today. Former Arsenal midfielder
Climate change is a big and scary topic. If you are told you must save the world, you feel
useless as an individual. You must break it down, tell them how they get impacted by
pollution and plastics, with everyday things like shampoo and shower gel coming from
fossil fuels. If you multiply people making a change by billions, then you can make a big
impact.
Water availability significantly influences annual variations in crop yields, with the
impact of weather conditions during the growing season extending beyond local regions to affect
vast areas across the Midwest. This is supported by the widespread nature of costly agricultural
events, as reported by NOAA in 2012. The 2012 drought, for instance, impacted agricultural

activities across 23 states, leading to a notable decline in crop and livestock production.
Typically, yields fall short of their potential by about 15-20% in most years, primarily due to
consequences of the fast fashion industry, stating, "The fast fashion industry produces huge
amounts of emissions and waste that negatively impacts the people of countries like Benin that
are the final destination for second-hand clothing" (2023). Takubo further asserts, "By supporting
youth in climate action, we are working towards a better future for us all" Although there is a
considerable body of research exploring the relationship between climate change and tourism,
this academic insight has not yet led to a strong commitment to action among tourism operators
The interconnection between climate change and various aspects of our lives, from sports
to agriculture and tourism, underscores the urgent need for collective action and awareness.
