Abstract
This industrial training report encapsulates the diverse experiences garnered during the Student
Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) at Ibn Qayyim Academy in Ibadan, Oyo State. The
report begins with an overview of administrative tasks, including printing assessments, aiding
pre-school teachers, and advancing Microsoft Word and Excel skills. Despite occasional
setbacks due to illness, the commitment to editing student progress reports remained
unwavering.
The document unfolds a comprehensive training journey, spanning early childhood development,
technological advancements like Bluetooth document printing, and active participation in online
education through Coursera. Practical applications extended to hands-on experiences in letter
creation, contributing to pre-nursery class activities, and engaging in the dynamic realm of
educational administration.
A significant segment is devoted to the immersion within the Human Resources unit, detailing
extensive training on organizational work ethics, acquisition of practical skills, and mastering
computer controls. The report underscores the importance of adaptability and continuous
learning in the ever-evolving digital landscape.
The experience section emphasizes the commitment despite setbacks, showcasing dedication to
enhancing student progress reports and striving for excellence. The summary and conclusion
highlight the varied experiences, blending theoretical and practical knowledge, and anticipating
continued growth in future endeavors.
In essence, this SIWES report reflects a holistic journey of self-discovery, professional growth,

1.0 INTRODUCTION

1.1 BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

The Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) commonly called I.T
(Industrial Training) is skill training programmed designed to expose and prepare students of
Universities, Polytechnics, Colleges of Technology Colleges of Education e.t.c for the industrial
work situation they are likely to meet after graduation.
The Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme was introduced by the Federal
Government in 1973/74 in order to improve the students who are in computer Education to
practicalize that he or she have been taught theoretically in the institution. And also acquire more
knowledge of handling equipment and machinery.
This programme is funded by the federal government before it was handed over to the
national universities commission (NUC) and the National Board for Technical Education
(NBTE) in 1979, later in 1984 the federal government reverted the management and
implementation of the scheme to it and it was effectively taken, over by the industrial training
fund in July 1985 with the funding being solely born by the Federal Government.

1.2 AIMS AND OBJECTIVES


Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme has established to achieve some aims and
objective, which includes:
1. To provide an avenue for students in institutions of higher learning to acquire industrial
skills and experience in the course of study.
2. To prepare students for the industrial Work situation after graduation.
3. To expose students to Work methods and techniques in handling equipment and machine
that may not be available in the institution.

4. It provides students with an opportunity to apply their knowledge in real work situation
there bridging the gap between theory and practical.
5. It makes the transition from school to the world of work easier.
6. It exposes students to practical aspect of learning.
7. It makes students self employed.
8. To enlist and strengthen employers involvement in the entire educational process and
prepare students for employment in industry and commerce.
9. It provides working experiences to some who have never undergo any training or work
before.
10. To make the students gain much experience both in theory and practical.

1.3 BRIEF HISTORY OF IBN QAYYIM ACADEMY


Ibn Qayyim Academy was established in September, 2021. The school was established focusing
on three cardinal areas such as: Tech, Tahfeedhul Quran and the conventional academics
program. The school is a 21st century school whose focus is building the whole child with the
UNIQUE ADVANTAGE.

2.0 MAIN ACTIVITIES CARRIED OUT
In the ongoing journey of my SIWES, this month has been a tapestry woven with diverse
threads of learning and engagement. The acquisition of computer-related skills has been a focal
point, allowing me to navigate various technological landscapes.
Among the skills honed is the proficiency in creating ledgers using Microsoft Excel. This entails
not only the mastery of basic functions but also an understanding of how to organize financial
data systematically. Such skills are paramount in professional settings where accurate record-
keeping is crucial for decision-making processes.
Furthermore, delving into the intricacies of Microsoft Word, specifically in formatting Hypang
documents, added a layer of sophistication to my word processing abilities. This extends beyond
mere text manipulation and delves into the nuances of document styling, which is particularly
important in creating visually appealing and professional-looking documents.
Throughout my Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) journey, I actively
engaged in various facets, showcasing a multifaceted range of skills and experiences. My involvement in
administrative duties included aiding in the printing of assessments for both English and mathematics
intervention classes. This exposed me to the intricacies of educational processes and contributed to the
smooth functioning of the learning environment.
A significant portion of my time was dedicated to the enhancement of my Microsoft Excel skills.
I delved into data manipulation techniques, mastering tasks such as copying, pasting, and graph
plotting. This newfound proficiency not only increased my efficiency but also allowed me to
actively contribute to the management of student progress reports and teacher attendance.
Beyond the realm of spreadsheets, I actively assisted the pre-school teacher, honing my
Microsoft Word proficiency through tasks like document typing and scheduling. Despite facing
setbacks due to illness, I remained resolute, showcasing my commitment by diligently editing
and rectifying student progress reports whenever I was present.
The depth of my learning experience extended to comprehensive training in the Early Years'
Foundation Stage. This three-day training provided me with a profound understanding of crucial
developmental stages, enriching my knowledge base and preparing me for future challenges in
the educational domain.

The practical application of Bluetooth technology for printing documents in PDF format
stands out as a modern approach to document management. This wireless capability not only
reflects current trends in technological advancements but also underscores the importance of
adaptability in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
The foray into online learning through Coursera is a testament to my commitment to continuous
education. Actively participating in an online course not only expands my knowledge horizons
but also underscores the proactive approach to leveraging digital platforms for educational
enrichment.
Beyond the digital realm, engaging in tomoning practices in Oyo presented a unique opportunity
to apply learned skills in a real-world context. The refinement of letter creation using WPS in
this practical setting further solidified my understanding of professional communication,
emphasizing the importance of blending theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience.
Contributing to pre-nursery class activities signifies a holistic engagement with the educational
environment. This hands-on involvement is invaluable, providing insights into the dynamics of
classroom management and teacher support. The practical application of knowledge in printing
continuous assessments underscores the relevance of learned skills in everyday educational
operations.
As the month unfolded, the synthesis of technical skills, real-world applications, and active
participation in online education painted a comprehensive picture of growth and development.
Each facet of this journey contributes to a nuanced understanding of the professional landscape,
equipping me with a diverse skill set that transcends the boundaries of traditional educational
experiences.
In essence, this month has been a mosaic of learning experiences, reflecting the dynamic nature
of education and professional development. With each acquired skill and every practical
application, I am not only expanding my proficiency but also cultivating a mindset geared
towards adaptability, innovation, and continuous improvement. As the SIWES journey
progresses, I eagerly anticipate the unfolding chapters of discovery and growth that lie ahead.

Attending a seminar on formative progress reports was another enlightening experience. This
seminar not only broadened my perspective on child development but also equipped me with
valuable insights into effective progress reporting methodologies in educational settings.
My SIWES journey within the Human Resources unit further expanded my skill set. Immersed
in an extensive training on organizational work ethics, I underwent a continuous learning process
that significantly shaped my professional mindset. This immersion allowed me to delve deep into
the intricacies of organizational work ethics, providing me with a solid foundation for future
endeavors.
Taking on responsibilities in welcoming students and new intakes, I actively participated in the
registration of newly admitted students. This hands-on experience provided practical insights
into the operational dynamics of educational institutions. A unique training opportunity
unfolded, unraveling the essence of what constitutes a "good school" and paving the way for
further development in my aspirations as a prospective teacher.
My educational expedition within the Human Resources unit extended to the acquisition of
practical skills. From typing financial reports to crafting curriculum vitae, I honed my abilities.
Additionally, I learned the intricate operation of laminating machines with precision, ensuring
that I understood the nuances of their functionalities, including the simple yet crucial task of
switching them off and on.
Mastering computer controls, including essential commands like Ctrl+C, Ctrl+B, Ctrl+A, and
Ctrl+J, became second nature. This proficiency not only streamlined my tasks but also added to
my overall digital competence. Navigating the digital realm, I explored the intricacies of file
management, from opening new folders to adeptly saving and storing documents.
The introduction to Microsoft PowerPoint opened doors to a realm of creativity. I learned to edit
videos, curate captivating presentations, and breathe life into content through animation. This
expanded skill set not only enriched my digital proficiency but also empowered me with creative
tools for effective communication.
In essence, my SIWES report is a testament to an immersive journey of self-discovery,
professional growth, and the acquisition of versatile skills. From organizational ethics and
educational administration to digital proficiency, my experiences have woven a tapestry of

learning, preparing me for future endeavors with a well-rounded skill set and a deeper
understanding of the intricacies within the educational landscape.

3.0 EXPERIENCE ACQUIRED


Various experience acquired during this Student’s Industrial Work Experience Scheme
(SIWES) programme.
I have a lot of experience throughout my Siwes, despite facing setback due to sickness leading to
several absence, I dedicate myself diligently when presence. I took charge of editing and
rectifying student progress report, ensuring its accuracy and complete. Despite the challenges
posed by my impermanent absence, I remain commitment and focused whenever I could,
devoting my effort to enhancing the quality of the students progress report, striving for
excellence despite the hurdles encounter.

3.1 SUMMARY, CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION


3.1.1 SUMMARY
This report contained the background of the study, aims and objective on students

Industrial Works Experience Scheme, also the organization chart of the establishment was

included. The main activities carried out in the organization were not also made

Based on this study, it was included that, the program has assisted student a lot in

practical aspect. It has been observed that, Students Industrial Works Experience Program still

need much Finance to implement the program effectively so that it will not be like wasting of

time, money and energy for those students who are participating in the programme.

Therefore, it is not how far but how well, no matter how small period the students spend

on this programme; they should be given thorough supervision both by the industrial based

supervision and the institution supervision.

3.2 RECOMMENDATION

The following recommendations were made concerning this report.

 The ITF should make proper arrangement in paying the allowance of the student.

 Maximum security and protection should be given to the student while on the programme.

 They should make sure that all students in accredited course for Students Industrial Works

Experience Scheme must participate in the programme.

 If possible, the programme should be done at least twice before leaving the colleges’ othat much

experience needed to be self-dependent after graduation will be acquired.

 The students should therefore search for a well comfortable equipped and unique organization

for their programmes of that at the end of the programme they will have practical knowledge on

what they have been taught in their various school.
