1. SAMPLE DESCRIPTION
Heng’s 'Polymer Type', heavy duty earth electrode inspection housing has been
manufactured from polymer to provide chemical resistance and UV protection. Suitable
for brick paved walkways or concrete installation.

The earth electrode inspection housing PI244 is classified for Heavy Duty usage,
for slow moving vehicular traffic. multi-axle, etc.
Manufacturer’s name, part number, as well as maximum load withstand force
were molded on the cover. The load withstand force mentioned on the cover was 6000
kg.
The manufacturer has provided all adequate information for proper installation
in a suitable and safe manner.

2. TEST PROCEDURE
All tests were carried out at PITTAS–DRAGNIS testing facilities at Koropi-Attica.
Tests were performed on two sets of three new lid specimens using two
housings.

One set, with one housing and three lid specimens 185a, 185b and 185c, was
tested with “pit set in concrete” installation. A second set with one housing and three lid
specimens 185d, 185e and 185f, was tested with “pit set in blocks or slabs on sand and
hardcore base” installation.

Specimens have been subjected to the following tests:

2.1 LOAD TEST

The item is applicable for heavy duty usage and was subjected to a force of 30kN
vertically applied through a circular steel plate with a 170 mm ± 0.5 mm diameter and
thickness of 20 mm ± 1 mm with a radius of both edges (top and bottom) of minimum 2
mm.
The centre of circular plate was positioned over the centre of the lid.
Force was applied gradually over 60s ± 10s and was maintained for 120s ± 5s.

Load test was also performed with manufacturer declared load force of 6000 kg.

2.2 MARKING TEST
The specimens were inspected to check if they are marked at least with:
a) manufacturer’s name or trademark
b) part number
c) classification
d) load withstand force

2.3 ELECTROMAGNETIC COMPATIBILITY (EMC)

Products covered by standard IEC 62561-5 are, in normal use, passive in
respect of electromagnetic influences (emission and immunity)

4. CONCLUSIONS
The tests were successful, and the results are in the range of limits set by the
IEC 62561-5:2017 standard.

Additionally, Heng’s Heavy Duty Earth Electrode Inspection Housing – PI244,

has been tested, installed in concrete and has withstood the 6000 kg applied force,
without breaking, as per manufacturer’s declaration.
