My eyes opened and I became conscious of my surroundings,

by the loud cries of the baby sitting beside me. Terror struck me
as soon as I saw “station No. 402” written in bold letters on the
ginormous board through the window. Taken by surprise I
quickly stumbled out of the train, while the little voice in my
head repeated this for what seemed like a hundredth time
“how can you be so careless?”. I tried calming down myself,
while searching for my wallet in the bag. tears trickled down my
face as a strong feeling of anxiousness grabbed my heart. I had
forgotten my wallet, which had my money and phone on the
previous train, that had already left.
After finally graduating university, treating my self with a solo
trip to china to meet my online friends seemed like an amazing
idea. Travelling alone to a foreign country and exploring
different cultures and sites had always been a dream for me. At
last i got an opportunity to fulfill that dream. “solo trips can be
very dangerous emily”, my mom warned me when i told her
about the trip. I shrugged her off.
Adrenaline rushed through me as I sat on the airplane seat, to
begin my 15 hour long journey from US to china. I landed on
shanghai airport with a jet lag. My friends had already booked a
train for me from shanghai to their home town. They were
going to be my guide for the rest of the trip. I was ecstatic to
finally meet them. I got on the train excitedly, unaware of the
upcoming horrors that awaited me.
With no phone to contact my friends and no money in hand,
the only reasonable option that gave me some hope was asking
the manager for a free ride back to previous station.
In the middle of that conversation with the manager a voice
pursued me, “hey, sorry to disrupt you, I am noah. I can pay for
your ticket. Don’t worry about it.” I let a sigh of relief upon
hearing these words. I thanked him multiple times for being a
blessing in such a distressful time.
