The main ideas are about finding ways to
enjoy the process of learning a new language.
Additionally, finding effective methods,
creating a system of learning, and needing a
bit of patience are useful principles in the
journey of learning in the long term.

- The talk is organized logically. She
begins the talk by raising some questions
and gradually introduced the topic. Next,
she reviews some methods by giving
some specific examples and explains
them.

effective?
The speaker uses pictures to explain the
examples of a person named Lucas learning
Russia through Skype. Also, she showcases
some pictures of learning methods. These
pictures help the viewer understand quickly
what the speaker is talking about.

We are no geniuses and we have no shortcut
to learning languages. We simply found ways
how to enjoy the process.

Lucas from Brazil learned Russian by
randomly adding a hundred Russian speakers
on Skype as friends. He opened a chat
window and wrote “Hi” in Russian to any one
of them and the person replied, “Hi, how are
you?”. Lucas copied the text and then he
chatted to another person and the person
replied, “I’m fine, thank you, and how are
you?”. Lucas once again copied back to the
first person. It turned out Lucas had two
strangers have a conversation with each other.

- Don’t mind making mistakes, I should
learn based on the feedback
- Create a system in learning. As we are
so busy at work and in daily life, by
planning ahead, we don’t need extra
time because it will become a part of
our daily life.
