Intermolecular Forces

Intramolecular- are the forces that hold atoms

together within a molecule.
The three types of intramolecular forces
are covalent, ionic, and metallic bonding.
Van Der Waal’s force- are weak intermolecular
forces that are dependent on the distance
between atoms or molecules.
Intermolecular forces- are the attractive and
repulsive forces that arise between the
molecules of a substance.
Ion Dipole- is an attractive force that results from
the electrostatic attraction between an ion and a
neutral molecule that has a dipole.
Hydrogen Bonding- It results from the attractive
force between a hydrogen atom covalently
bonded to a very electronegative atom such as
a N, O, or F atom and another very
electronegative atom.
Dipole- Dipole - a type of intermolecular
attraction—attractions between two
molecules.
London Dispersion- the weakest
intermolecular force.
