Like this, form three 3-digit numbers. =< Hee 225 2082 346 463 When we arrange the numbers from the smallest to the greatest, it is known as ascending order or increasing order. The numbers 643, 346 and 463 can be arranged in ascending order as 346 < 463 < 643. ‘<‘is the symbol to represent ‘less than’. When we arrange the numbers from the greatest to the smallest, it is known as descending order or decreasing order. For example, 643 > 463 > 346 ‘>‘ is the symbol to represent ‘greater than’. Forming Numbers Let us continue with the example of dice. Let us roll a single dice two times to get 2 numbers. For example, suppose we get the numbers 3 and 5 after rolling a dice two times. To form the largest number using these 2 digits, we put the larger digit in the tens place, and the smaller digit in the ones place. So the largest number formed using the digits 3 and 5 is 53. To form the smallest number using the two digits, put the smaller digit in the tens place and larger digit in the ones place. So the smallest number formed using the digits 3 and 5 is 35. Similarly, let's take 3 digits. For example, 1, 7 and 4. The largest number formed using these 3 digits is 741 The smallest number formed using these 3 digits is 147.
