resolve

Daniel 1:8

he revolved it in his mind; he well weighed it, and considered it with

himself, and came to a resolution about it.

Dictionary Defn. Decide firmly on a course of action.

Separate or cause to be separated into constituent parts or components.

Firm determination to do something.

My favorite quote of Winston Churchill describing Chamberlain was

“An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile, hoping it will eat him last”
We have become a nation of appeasers. Why? Sometimes because of
fear. Sometimes because we hope others will follow our example.
Most of the time because of apathy. Let’s face it, holding strong
conviction requires a lot of time and a lot of energy. It seems that
most people are not willing to commit to that much intrusion in their
lives. Often our response to God is "I'd like to help but..." followed by
excuse du jour. Perhaps we need to reread the story of Jesus'
frustration in Luke 9:59-62

Origin
Late Middle English (in the senses ‘dissolve, disintegrate’ and ‘solve (a problem)’): from
