If you have any queries regarding your benefit, you should contact Parent’s Benefit Section
at the address or phone numbers on this letter or by email at parentsben@welfare.ie. You
should quote your PPSN (found at the top of this letter) in any contact with the Department.

If you consider that this decision is incorrect, it is open to you to send additional
documentary evidence that you think is relevant to your case to this office and the decision
will be reviewed by a Deciding Officer.

If you are not satisfied with the Deciding Officer’s decision (either before or after seeking a
review) you may appeal it by writing directly to The Chief Appeals Officer, Social Welfare
Appeals Office, D’Olier Hse, D’Olier St, Dublin 2, within 21 days of the date on this letter
setting out fully the grounds of your appeal.

Depending on your circumstances, you may be liable for income tax on some or all of your
Parent’s Benefit payment. The Department will pay Parent’s Benefit to you without
deducting tax. The Department will, however, notify Revenue of the taxable amount of
Parent’s Benefit to be taken into account for income tax purposes. This means you do not
have to do anything for the correct tax to be paid.

Information about the taxation of social welfare payments is available from Revenue and on
the Jobs and Pensions page of the Revenue website www.revenue.ie.

You do not pay PRSI and USC on your Parent’s Benefit payment.

I have attached a list of events that may affect your entitlement to Parent’s Benefit. Please
read this list carefully.
