Course Description
This course integrates marketing strategy with the enhancement of value in firms,
products, services, and industry. This course also offers insights into the marketing of
products, services, ideas, people, etc. It provides the marketing strategies needed to
operate in small business settings, corporate settings, not-for-profit organizations… and
life in general. This course incorporates current developments in marketing to acquaint
students with the present-day challenges of marketing activities and serves as a vehicle
for the application and integration of the concepts, analytical tools, and problem-solving
approaches to developing marketing strategy. The central focus of marketing is the
exchange of value between people and/or organizations.

Class Discussion: Class Discussion is where you will have ongoing conversation with your
classmates and instructor. Your grade will be based on four aspects: Quality, Quantity,
Frequency, and Accuracy; these are explained in detail on the syllabus. The course requires
participation in discussions. Your discussions should further the topics; show that you have
learned something from our readings or outside research; bring anecdotal, life experiences to the
threaded issues; ask relevant and forward moving questions; or otherwise promote the Course

Canvas communications: The course will utilize Canvas for communication. Please visit
the Canvas modules regularly (I suggest every Sunday—spend an hour, or more-- going
over each of your classes and making sure you are aware of assignments, due dates, etc.).

Also review the Canvas shell a couple days in advance of each class for course information,
assignments, supplementary readings, grades, and announcements. Please remember that
it is your responsibility to make sure you receive and read all the information posted
(published) on Canvas.

Assignment and exams: If you miss an exam or assignment due to illness or injury you
are responsible for contacting your professor concerning the missed exam or assignment
as soon as possible, preferably before the next class session. If you wait until the end of
the semester, I will not be able to give you opportunities to make up for missed points.
Assignments are due until the midnight of the due dates. Late assignments will not be
accepted unless discussed before the deadline.
