SOCIOLOGICAL PERSPECTIVE
A social perspective means looking at how society and its rules affect people's behavior and
experiences.
Social Stratification is like sorting people or things are divided into groups based
on specific characteristics like income, education, or social status, Different groups
based on their qualities, which helps us see who has more advantages in society.
SOCIAL DESIRABLE
Social desirables are things that societies value, like money, power, and respect.
Karl Marx and Max Weber had different ideas about determining social class.
Max Weber believed that social status was a combination of wealth, power, and prestige.
SOCIAL MOBILITY
Social mobility is the idea that people can move up or down in their social and economic
positions. It's about the possibility of improving your life and status through things like
education and job opportunities.
Horizontal Mobility:
When you change your job but your overall social status remains the same.
Vertical Mobility:
Upward Mobility:
Going from a lower social position to a higher one, like getting a better job. However, it
can be challenging.
Downward Mobility:
Moving from a higher social position to a lower one, often due to a mistake or
wrongdoing.
Inter-generational Mobility
: When your social position changes between generations, like your children having a
different status than you did. Refers to something happening within a single group or
generation.
Intra-generational Mobility:
When your social position changes during your lifetime, for example, getting a promotion
at work or achieving a higher class than your siblings. Refers to something happening
between or involving multiple groups or generations.
