Dear Footballers,

The Don Bosco Technical College – Cebu Football Club cordially invites you to the Inaugural FR .
ZAGO CUP 2024 (5-aside format for Players 7 and 8-a-side Format with Goal Keeper for all other
Categories)

This is a CVFA-sanctioned tournament will run from Februay 10-11, 2024 to be held at the Tambasia and
Magone Football Fields of Don Bosco Technical College –Cebu Inc located at the Pleasant Homes,
Subdivision, Punta Princesa, Cebu City.

The purpose of this event is in remembrance of a great Salesian Priest in the name of Fr. Peter Zago,
who was Rector and Provincial of the Salesian Province of the South Philippines. It has been his
advocacy to keep the young people busy so as to avoid falling into bad habits detrimental to their
well-being. A staunch advocate of the Motto of Don Bosco “ Run, Jump, Shout but not sin”, Fr. Zago,
made use of the apostolate of the Football Field to Educate and to make the young good Christians
and honest citizens, encouraging his young players to do their best and to play their best.

We would like to encourage everyone to foster and exhibit true sportsmanship in the competition and
cultivate friendships with fellow footballers.

You will find official tournament forms and information about the event enclosed with invitation. We
would be most honored to play and enjoy the tournament with you.

The Tournament:
1. Tournament:
The Inaugural Fr. Zago Cup 2024 will be played in accordance with applicable sections of the
FIFA rules and the Central Visayas Football Association rules & regulations. It is sanction with CVFA.

2. Admitting Teams/Clubs:
All Admitting clubs/clubs must be a member & registered to the Central Visayas Football Association
(CVFA) or any Regional FA organization. We do not accept unregistered Team/Club to join
the Tournament.

3. Age Categories ,
A. Game Format, No. of Players & Coach, Game Duration:
Players 7 – 5 aside format maximum of 12 players per team
All other Categories - 8-a-side Format, & with 15 maximum number of players.
(1 head coach or at least PYCC Holder).
All Categories will have 12 minutes of playing time. No half time.

B. Registration:
Early bird Registration until Feb. 2, 2024 - P2,000.00
Regular Registration Feb 3 – 7, 2024 - P2,500.00

The Rules of the Game:


1.Order of the Game:
a. The teams are divided into groups (min. of 4teams per group) where all the teams will meet in a round
robin series. The order among the teams will be decided according to points. 3 points will be awarded for a
win, 1 point for a draw & 0 point for a loss.
b. If two or more teams have the same number of points, the order will be decided as follows: Results of
match(es) between teams with equal points, Goal difference, Highest number of goal-scored, Penalty kick
contest according to FIFA rules.

2.Play Off
5 and 8-a-side: Cup Type, the two best teams in each group will advance to the next round (Knockout
games). A draw in the play-off will be decided by penalty kicks according to FIFA rules.

3. Substitutes
A Substituted player may re-enter the match. Substitution can be done without stopping the game.
Notice that the game must be stopped and the referee has to be informed by substitution of a goalkeeper. All
substitutions should be done within the technical area of the team. If there is no technical area the
substitution should be made at the center line.

4. Players & Coaches.


a. The player must to be present when identifying the age for each match for all teams the player plays for
b. The Players who is/are not playing during the Elim/quarters can’t play during Semi-Final & Final Round
c. No Playing Coach is allowed to play in Men’s and Women’s teams.
d. No License Coach No Play

5. Important Rules on Penalty Kicks:


a. In the event of the Tie in a Quarterfinals, Semi-Final - One Kicker only & Sudden Death
If Championship Matches Three (3) Kicker then sudden death.
b. Only (5) Players, 1 Goalie + 4 on Field per team to kick for U7
Only (8) Players, 1 Goalie + 7 on Field per team to kick for all other categories
c. No change of goalie after one kicker during the penalty kick.
6. Proof of Age:
Requirements:
For All Ages to 38A, 48A – Original Copy of Philippine Statistic Authority (PSA) or Passport
We can accept Driver’s License for Age 18 above
Soccer Moms – proof that your son is a football player (team registration form with your son’s name)
Men’s /Ladies Open – No Docs
Men’s Professional – Proof of profession and/or Diploma of Profession.
PLAYERS with NO credentials can NOT play.

7. Match Information/Team List


a. A final written team registration form (players list) must be submitted to the organizer at least an
hour before first game.
b. The number of each player on the team list must be the same number of the players jersey.

8. Field Size and Venue


5Aside: All Pitch size is ½ of 1/’4 size of the Full Field
8Aside: All Pitch size is 1/4 size of the Full Field
Football Fields : MAGONE - PITCH # 1,2,3 and TAMBASIA - PITCH # 4,5,6

9. Players Uniforms
a. The Organizer will strictly order No Uniform No Play policy. Field players in a team must wear same
design or at least same color uniform except for Goal Keeper.
b. All team shirts must be numbered and the numbers must correspond to the numbers on the team
list. Numbers must be on the backs of the shirts.
c. If the referee decides that one team should change shirts due to similarity to the opposing team’s
shirts, the team appearing last in the match schedule must change or will have Bibs Uniform.

10. TOURNAMENT Price :

11. Before and After the Game


a. All teams should be ready at the field no later than 15 minutes before kick-off.
b. All players must be in a complete football gear, The teams are responsible for their supporter’s conduct.
c. Every responsible team official (coach) must immediately after the match sign the referee’s match card
in order to confirm match results and red cards and other events during the game.

12. Balls
U11 and under will use balls of size 4, Others ball size 5.

13. Matches
a. Playing 5 a-side (1 goalkeeper and 4 outfield players).
Playing 8 a-side (1 goalkeeper and 7 outfield players).
The offside rule is not applicable. Back passed to goalkeeper is not allowed to pick up the ball with his
hands. Goal kick is done from the ground. Sending-off at obvious goal-scoring opportunity is not valid.

14. Referees: All Official Referees from the CVFA


A1. 5&8Aside - Only one (1) referee will manage the age groups games from Elimination
Quarter & Semis Round, But three (3) Referees in Final Round.

15. Protest & Sanctions


a. All other protests relative to the line-up of other teams can be entertain only during the Elimination
Round
b. The Team Coach is the only person who can file their protest direct to the Tournament
Coordinator, The tournament committee’s decision on all protests is final.
c. The protest player can’t play the on-going match if he/she can’t give directly the player credentials
with-in the match, but there’s no stoppage of the game.
d. The referee’s decision in all matters concerning key points of play shall be final, therefore protests in
this area are not accepted
e. Protest to the Game Referee is within the jurisdiction of the Match Commissioner
f. We don’t entertain recorded videos of the game, Referees decision is final

16. Cautions and Sending-Off Offenses


a. Any player & Coach given a red card is automatically suspended from the participation (can Play nor
can Coach) in the following match.
b. The tournament jury can decide about suspension for further game(s) in case of a direct red card.
c. Severe offenses will be reported to the CVFA or appropriate organization of the Club concerned.

17. Walkover/Abandoned Match


Any team not appearing at the appointed time and place for a match can be declared loser by 0-3, after
a decision by the jury. If a team repeatedly fails to appear at the games, the team may be excluded
from the tournament. In special cases, the tournament jury may decide to exclude the team at the first
offense.

18. Match Schedule


The organization committee has the right to change the groups, time of the game.

19. Venue and DBTC Campus House Rules


The Don Bosco Technical College –Cebu Inc is a no smoking area, and alcohol and drug free
Institution, any Violators Caught will be removed from the venue and banned from re-entering the
Campus and field of play. We politely request that all visitors respect the grounds by not littering, and
staying within the designated areas.

Entrance fee for all players, parents and spectators is Php 10.00
One Time Parking Fee within the Campus is Php 20.00

Only Players And Coaches Are Allowed To Be On The Playing Field During Their Game
Schedules. Parents and Spectators Are Not Allowed Inside The Playing Area For Magone
Field and Tambasia Field.

Only the main gate at Pleasant Homes will be used as the sole ENTRANCE for all players,
coaches, parents and spectators who will be joining and attending the Inaugural Fr. Zago Cup.
Buhisan gate will be CLOSED for the day.

20. Insurance and responsibility


Make sure that all your players are insured both on and off the playing field. The Don Bosco
Technical College Football Club organizers of the Inaugural Zago Cup 2024 Committee do
not carry any group insurance protecting participants in case of injury, illness, theft or damage
to property.

21. FAIR PLAY


At the beginning and end of all matches, both teams are encouraged to shake hands. Players
are encouraged to play all matches with intensity and desire. However, unnecessary physical
play, particularly that with the intent to injure, will not be tolerated; caution and/or dismissals
will result.
