A. Content Standard
B. Performance Standard
• The learner is able to recognize and represent whole numbers up to 100,000 in various
forms and contexts.
LESSON:
I. Objectives:
A. Daily Routine:
B. Drill
Spin a Wheel Game.
Find each quotient using whiteboard. Work as fast as you can.
1. 12 ÷ 2
2. 45 ÷ 5
3. 18 ÷ 9
4. 16 ÷ 4
5. 99 ÷ 11
C. Review:
1) 36
2) 45
3) 84
4) 968
5) 2569
D. Motivation
-Show a picture of a farmer in an orchard.
F. Discussion
The teacher will discuss how to solve the problem with the class
Step 1: Round off both the dividend and the divisor to the highest place value.
Step 2: You can cancel 1 zero both in the dividend and in the divisor. ( one zero
only because there is only one zero in the divisor.) Then, divide 300 by 3.
There is another way to estimate the quotient, by using Compatible numbers.
Group Activity:
Pupils are grouped into 5 groups.
Setting of Standards
- What are the things you should remember when having a group activity?
H. Generalization
How do you estimate quotients?
What are the steps in estimating the quotient?
4. Application
(Think pair share)
Using your whiteboard. Estimate the following using the rounding technique.
1. 819 ÷ 4=
2. 348÷ 17=
3. 3 607÷ 47=
I. Evaluation
Round off the dividend and divisor to the highest place value, then estimate the
quotient. Number one is done for you.
