The document outlines 6 reasons for residents of Kalamunda to get involved in opposing a takeover by Belmont, arguing that it will cost over $10 million due to redundancies and new branding/systems, eliminate their community identity and local services, remove their democratic right to vote on the takeover, break an election promise by the state government, and put all decisions in the hands of Belmont councillors without an identified benefits plan. It calls residents to take action and join together as one voice to oppose the government plan.

1. Estimated cost of this Belmont takeover to the ratepayers will exceed $10,000,000 due to staff redundancies, new branding, new signage, new technology systems and new stationery. Significant rate rises are inevitable.
2. There will be significant loss of our community identity
and local services.
3. The State Government plans to eliminate the current
democratic right of Kalamunda residents to vote on the takeover.
4. The State Government has broken its election promise
not to force council amalgamations.
5. There has been no business plan by the State
Government to identify benefits and financial costs. There is no evidence that there will be any cost savings.
6. All decisions regarding the “new city,” including name,
rate levels, staffing, ward representation and services to be eliminated will only be made by current Belmont Councillors. TAKE ACTION AND JOIN TOGETHER AS ONE VOICE. TOGETHER WE HAVE THE POWER TO MAKE THE GOVERNMENT LISTEN TO THE VOICE OF THE PEOPLE THEY REPRESENT ... YOU !!
