Week 8 AIA IoT

Some terms:

1. Traceability: keeping records and linking up the processes involved in producing, processing and
distributing food products and their ingredients. Some food traceability examples include the case of
foodborne illnesses like salmonella and ptomaine poisoning.
2. Interoperability: the ability of computer systems or software to exchange and make use of information.

AGRIVI 360 Farm Enterprise:

Centralised program ensures complete production, traceability & compliance with food and
sustainability standards.
Reporting done easily and faster by few clicks
Complete Interoperability ensured on all machines
Ensured in:
Quality management
Information security
Cloud security

IoT is referred to the terms that bring the communication technology, sensors, sensing,
computing and also implementing devices to implement certain operation from the data
collection of device to device communication or what we call it machine to machine
communication.
Between machines there are algorithm processing & stardard processing that ensure this
communication to take place.
It updates to the operators/ managers the current farming production system to enhance their
farming practices as well as to give an idea whether to expand the profit. For example, they
might have to wait when the demand is higher than supply rate, then there the price to sell will
be higher.
Hence, it suggests the farmers on how to improve or expand their farm management
However, there was a study that showed many companies voted to have adoption of IoT but not
so much from agro industries. Due to high cost and difficult transition (to change their
conventional way is not easy).
IoT sensors usually are offline hence there will be another step before the data is brought to the
system where data analytics can be done.
Initially, the IoT was invented to understand the customer behaviour by describing the data
patterns through the networking
3 basic elements making IoT:
i. sensing element such as data logger (The data logger contains a sensor to
receive the information and a computer chip to store it.), sensors for
temp, humidity, soil moisture, wind speed, water pressure
ii. computing element such as cloud computing (store, transmit & exchange data, trigger the
devices , enable interfaces between devices, facilitate information access to users)
iii. implementing element such as actuators, smart devices
Major components of “Internet of Things” device include control unit, sensor, power source and
communication modules.
The aims of the IoT is to connect all kind of the system sensor tools to the Internet of networks for
analyzing, for perceiving, delivery, sharing information.
IoT has small processing board to make their own decision.
