Introduction

Human resource management is the strategic and coherent

approach to the management of an organization’s most valued assets

– the people working there who individually and collectively

contribute to the achievement of the objectives of the business. The

terms “human resource management” and “human resources” have

largely replaced the term “personnel management” as a description of

the processes involved in managing people in organizations. In simple

words, HRM means employing people, developing their capacities,

utilizing, maintaining and compensating their services in tune with the

job and organizational requirement. HR activities of various

companies are discussed in detauil.

InfoSys

Abstract

Infosys Technologies Limited is an information technology service

company headquartered in Bangalore, India. Infosys is one of the

largest IT companies in India with 113,796 employees as of 2010. It

has offices in 22 countries and development centers in India, China,

Australia, UK,US, Canada and Japan., it was voted as the best

employer in the country in many HR surveys The Company is well

acclaimed for its employee friendly HR practices. Infosys has grown

to US $ 2 billion Company by the year 2006, it has still retained the

culture of a small company. Infosys evolves from the best talent from

across the country and recruits candidates by conducting vigorous

selection process.

HR Activities

HR practices of Infosys are envisioned by its founders and the culture

that has been predominant over the year. The organization advocates

simplicity by maintaining the culture of the company. The employees

are encouraged to share the learning experience. Infosys was the first

company to provide the employees with world class facilities for

training and working. The company treats their employees as fixed

asset appreciates their durability by constant innovative training. In

knowledge-based business significance of consistency is rhetoric and

actions are required to empower employees. The company believes in

“youth, imagination and speed” they are constantly innovating in

every area to bring generation next employees.

Samsung

Abstract

Samsung is a South Korean company originally founded as a grocery

trading store by Lee Byung-Chull in March 1938. The company

forayed in the electronics industry in 1969 and its first electronic

product was a black-and-white television. Soon, the company also

started exporting its products and became a major electronics

manufacturer in its home country. In 1970, the company acquired a 50

per cent stake in Korea Semiconductor.

Now, Samsung is one of the major manufacturers of electronic

components globally. It is also one of the major suppliers of

electronic products like batteries, semiconductors, chips, flash

memory and hard drive to companies such as Apple, Sony, Nokia, etc.

Samsung has also been the world's largest manufacturer of television

since 2006, and of smartphones since 2011. In 2017, the company

overtook Intel to also become the world's largest manufacturer of

semiconductor chips.

HR Activities

Samsung is known for care about its employees. They give more

preference to their employees. Following practices are done in the

Samsung

People valued in Samsung: Samsung give value to people whether

they are their customers or employees. Samsung has maintained the

culture of the organization and keeps the environment in which

people come to Samsung and show their high level of commitment.

Samsung made it easy for the people to do a business or work with

Samsung. They are investing their all efforts for customer’s need. HR

is involved in the placement, evaluation and reintegration of

employees.

Investing in people: Samsung has developed a lot of courses for

Samsung employees to learn, and give the opportunities to go outside

to learn E.g. the designer center staff can go abroad or have chance to

work with more talent.

HTP concept: Samsung establish the human tech thesis prize. The

purpose of this prize was to search creative and driven young people

who will lead the world of science for the future of Korea, to

encourage research at collegiate level and to increase the awareness of

importance of technology in society.

Employee development: Samsung is in that environment where talent

is scarce that’s why they appreciate their employees for their

contribution and they work on the development of employees because

they analyze the deficiency that their company needs employee

development programs which are necessary to survive in the market .

Diversity &inclusion: Samsung has a diverse culture. People with

different backgrounds are connected with it. Samsung has maintained

its culture and norms in such a way that everyone who is working

there feels that company value them. Employees feel ownership and

then employees show commitment towards organization.

Respecting rights: Samsung has maintained labor rights and dignity

and respect of their employees.

Amazon

Abstract

Amazon was incorporated in 1994, in the state of Washington. In July

1995, the company began service and sold its first book on

Amazon.com: Douglas Hofstadter’s Fluid Concepts and Creative

Analogies: Computer Models of the Fundamental Mechanisms of

Thought. In October 1995, the company announced itself to the

public. In 1996, it was reincorporated in Delaware.

Amazon.com is a vast Internet-based enterprise that sells books,

music, movies, housewares, electronics, toys, and many other goods,

either directly or as the middleman between other retailers and

Amazon.com’s millions of customers. Its Web services business

includes renting data storage and computing resources, so-called

“cloud computing,” over the Internet. Its considerable online presence

is such that, in 2012, 1 percent of all Internet traffic in North America

traveled in and out of Amazon.com data centers.

HR Activities

The company believes that employees and workers are one of the

greatest contributing factors towards the success of any organisation.

In the case of Amazon, companies committed towards improving and

enhancing it skills of the workforce by the means of efficient

development and training programs. As such, the self-actualization

and job satisfaction of the employees in staff members would be

enhanced. It was been discussed in this human resource management

in amazon company primary functions of human resource at Amazon

includes selection and recruitment, training and development,

compensation management, maintenance of good relationship among

employees and ensuring legal and ethical compliance (McDonald and

Hite, 2015). These functions help in promoting workplace

environment for the employees that is productive and helps the

employees and workers in performing up to their potential. The

human resource functions of the company have held the employees in

maintaining good attitude and moral standards within the company.

The purpose of the human resource management at Amazon is

promoting cordial and self-respect working relationships with the

workers and employees. The HR managers of the company work

towards the satisfaction of the individual needs and requirements of

all the workers by providing them with a coordinating environment.

The workplace environment of any business should help in promoting

the group as well as individual performances within the organization.
