non-conformities.
6. METHOD OF EXECUTION
6.1. GENERAL
In order to monitor the concrete foundation, the followings are to be checked and recorded:
For horizontally loaded foundations, the horizontal movements should also be monitored.
Q A T A R Date : 06.07.2009
The monitoring marks etc. at the structure or foundation shall be installed by the contractor.
During his construction period, the contractor shall be responsible for carrying out the
monitoring.
Concrete foundations are to be marked to check the settlement and tilting.
Major Foundations for monitoring Lox tank, Lin tank, Cold box.
Mark 500 mm / or anchor bolt top elevation as datum from the top of floor elevation at
four location of the foundation during concreting.
The difference in elevation is the settlement of the foundation. If different elevations are
readed, the settlement is improper.
Check the coordinates of middle and corner points in the structure in vertical plane
during concrete and recording.
Verify as stated in the monitoring intervals the middle and the corner points. If found
any difference the same is the tilting. The same is to be recorded.
6.6. SLOPES
The stability of a slope should be monitored over a minimum period of six months after
completion of that slope. As a minimum a monthly visual inspection for cracks and
deformations shall be carried out. For major works monitoring should also comprise
measurements of pore pressure, settlements and horizontal displacements.
