THE EFFECT OF PROGRESSIVE MUSCLE RELAXATION ON WORK FATIGUE

IN INPATIENT NURSES GATE HEALTH MAHULU HOSPITAL UJOH BILANG

Background: Hospital is a health service facility that operates 24 hours. One of the resources
needed by hospitals in caring for patients is nurses, who in terms of numbers rank at the top,
especially inpatient wards. The work of a nurse is inseparable from the shift work system, the
shift work system can cause fatigue. One of the main causes of work accidents caused by
humans is work fatigue (fatique). Purpose: This study aims to determine the effect of
progressive muscle relaxation interventions on fatigue in inpatient nurses at the Gateway
Sehat Mahulu Ujoh Bilang Hospital. Method: The research design used in this study was a
one group pretest posttest design. In this design, prior to treatment the sample was first given
a pretest (initial test) and at the end of the study the sample was given a posttest (final test).
Using total sampling, 23 respondents were obtained for 7 days and then used the Friedman
test because the research data was not normally distributed. Results: In the statistical test
results using the Friedman test, the significant value is 0.773 where the sig value is > 0.05, so
there is no effect of progressive muscle training on reducing the level of fatigue for nurses.
Conclusion: thus in this study it is known that progressive muscle relaxation has no
significant effect on the level of work fatigue of inpatient nurses at Gerbang Sehat Mahulu
Hospital. Suggestion: It is hoped that further research can examine the factors that influence
the absence of the effect of progressive muscle relaxation on fatigue inpatient nurse work at
the Gateway Healthy Mahulu Hospital.
