Bachelor in Germany in English
Before we talk about eligibility criteria, let’s face a common question:
Many students have this misconception that there are no English-taught programs
for Bachelors in Germany. But this is wrong as there are many bachelor's programs
available which are taught entirely in English.
But, I did the work for you and have listed all 100+ available ENGLISH courses in
Germany. You can find the complete list here.

Eligibility Criteria
Okay, now let’s talk about who is eligible to study bachelor in Germany.
In Germany, when students complete their 13 years of education (Arbitur) then they
can start Bachelor's in Germany. So, 13 years of education is required.
There can be 3 ways through which your 13 years education requirement is fulfilled
A - level qualificatio
12th year education + 2 semesters in universit
12th year education + Studienkollege in Germany
eligibility criteria 08
A levels Qualification
First way to get admission in Germany is for A - level students. If you have done
A-levels then you are eligible to apply directly for a Bachelor in German Universities.
You don’t need 2 semesters in Pakistan or Studienkolleg.
Grade Requirement
A minimum of C grade in 3 independent subjects.
Language Requirement
At least 6 bands in IELTS for English-taught program
B1/B2 German language certificate for German-taught programs
eligibility criteria 09
12th year Education + 2 semesters in university
The second way to complete your 13-year education is to study 2 semesters at any
recognized university in Pakistan (or your home country). After completing 1 year in
university you become eligible to directly apply for Bachelor in German Universities.
Grade Requirement
You will need at least 50% marks in Intermediate and a minimum of 2.0 CGPA in
first 2 semesters
Both 12th year marks and your CGPA will be combined (usually 50-50%) to make
your aggregat
Higher the grades, higher the chances to get admission
Language Requirement
At least 6 bands in IELTS for English-taught program
B1/B2 German language certificate for German-taught program
Higher the language proficiency, higher the chances to get admission.
eligibility criteria 10
12th year Education + Studienkolleg
Many students say:
“I don't want to study 2 semesters in my home country, I want to go Germany after
my 12th, Is it possible? “
So the answer is Yes! you can take admission in Studienkolleg and you study this in
Germany.
Types of Studienkollegs:
University Studienkolleg
University of Applied Sciences Studienkollegs (UAS)
eligibility criteria 11
Important points about Studienkolleg
As we have seen what is Studienkolleg, it’s types and purpose.
Now, let me tell you 4 main points about Studienkolleg
(Public) Studienkollegs are only offered in German language you need B1 or B2 level
German proficiency to get into it.
At the end of Studienkolleg, you will have to take the Feststellungsprüfung (FSP)
4. After passing Feststellungsprüfung (FSP) exam you become eligible to apply for
Bachelor degrees in Germany.
eligibility criteria 12
Explanation
We have 2 new words Aufnahmeprüfung and Feststellungsprüfung.
Aufnahmeprüfung
In Germany, not all universities offer Studienkolleg, you can find all Studienkolleg
offering universities here.
Each university may have its own syllabus and dates of exam. You can get an idea of
syllabus and dates by university websites like TU Berlin.
eligibility criteria 13
Feststellungsprüfung (FSP)
FSP is the final exam taken at the end of the Studienkolleg. This test is conducted for
entrance to the bachelor program at the University. Your grade in FSP and 12th year
will be combined (50-50% usually) and then university decides your admission.
The syllabus of this test includes German tests and tests related to the Studienkolleg
course in which you enrolled.
Tip: Apply at multiple FSP exams since universities also offer to write the FSP
externally. You can find more about External FSP at TU Berlin website.
It is in German but not too hard to pass. You study 2 semesters to prepare this test.
eligibility criteria 14
Conditional Admission in Germany
“I don't want to learn all German in Pakistan but in Germany, is it possible?”
Yes, you can get conditional admission from university that states that your German
is not sufficient and you need to attend a language course to fulfill the requirements
for a Studienkolleg or Bachelor.
You can attend the language course at that University or else they can recommend
you to any other institute, where you complete the language proficiency and then
get admission in Studienkolleg or Bachelor.
Please note:
Some universities straightly reject your application if you don’t meet their language
requirements while some universities offer a conditional admission.
Pro tip: Do at least A2 and then apply for your conditional admission and visa.
eligibility criteria 15
Studienkolleg VS 2 Semesters in Pakistan
Before we compare, you should know two terms:
1. Direct admission:
If you study 12th + 2 semesters in Pakistan (or you do an A-levels) then you get a
direct admission to Bachelors in Germany.
2. Indirect admission:
If you study just 12th classes then you get an indirect admission in either language
(conditional) or Studienkolleg course in Germany.
Personally, I prefer direct bachelors if you can study in English and your field related
jobs are available in English, like IT field.

Application Process for Bachelor
Before we talk about process, we should know about best time to apply in Germany.
1. Winter semeste
Applications start in March / Apri
Classes start in October
2. Summer semeste

In general, winter semester has more courses and thus, more chances of getting
admission. Especially if you are applying for direct admission in an English-taught
program.
But you can also apply in the summer semester. Some courses offer places in
summer too. So, it depends on your field of study.
P.S.
It’s super important to take care of dates when you apply in German
Universities. Here I made a complete video on importance of deadlines.

Don’t worry! you can follow these strategies to get admission in public universities

Target the universities that have not mentioned any CGPA criteria or low CGPA
criteria.
