What is vaccination? Vaccination is a very simple,
safe, and effective way of
protecting us against many
harmful diseases before we
come in contact with them.

It uses our body’s natural

defenses to build resistance to
specific infections and makes
the immune system stronger.

you get vaccinated?

Once exposed to one or more doses of a vaccine, we remain protected against that
disease for years. This way, when we get a vaccine the immune system and the
antibodies remember the disease and how to fight it

contrary to some beliefs...

vaccines DO NOT:
Cause allergies or any other conditions
Contain mercury (thiomersal)
Contain any ingredients that cause
harm in such small amounts.

Vaccines undergo trough

rigorous safety testing before
being introduced.
KN
Who can get vaccinated?
In terms of who can and who can not get vaccinated, nearly
everyone can. However, because of some medical
conditions, some people should not get certain vaccines, or
should wait before getting them. These conditions can
include:
Chronic illnesses
Treatments that affect the immune system
Severe and life-threatening allergies to vaccine
ingredients

Immunization
Immunization is a key component of
primary health care and a human right.

Immunization is one of the more

important medical interventions. Over
the course of history, it has helped keep
millions of people protected against
some of the most devastating diseases
ever to befall mankind.
Currently prevents 3.5-5
million deaths every year
from diseases like immunization...
diphtheria, tetanus,
pertussis, influenza and
measles

Has been so effective

that some diseases that
were once feared are
now extinct or are easily
manageable.

We now have
vaccines to prevent
more than 20 life-
threatening diseases
worldwide, helping
people of all ages live
longer and have
better and healthier
lives.

once into the old age.

In addition to appropriate nutrition and basic health interventions such as

routine vaccinations could reduce infectious disease burden in early childhood.
What
about the
kids?
According to the World’s Health
Organization, childhood vaccines
alone save over 4 million lives
worldwide every year, reducting
theglobal infant mortality rate.

Vaccines are found to be the most

cost-effective approach for
reducing childhood disease burden.

Economic Impact One of the most discernible benefits of vaccination is
averted medical expenditure.

By preventing an episode of the disease through a

vaccine, the economic costs of treatment, such as
physician fees, drugs and hospitalization expenses,
and associated travel costs and wage loss of caregivers
could be averted.
