Semester 1 Math Final Study Guide

You will have one hour for your math final. It will have 45-55 questions each worth 2 points. You
will get half credit for showing your work and reaching an answer. The test will be worth 20% of
your final grade. There are no calculators, but one 4x6 notecard will be allowed on the test.

Utilize this document as a study guide for each chapter and section we covered. Each chapter
review here will have a set of topics and a set of practice problems. These problems are similar
to what will be on your test, but there will be more problems on your review than your test.
Your test will follow the pattern of what we learned.

What can you use to help you study?

How can you organize yourself to study?

Plan your study schedule. In math, we will review 1-2 chapters a day. You will have the
opportunity to work through some of the review guides in class, but plan to review math for
15-20 minutes per day.

Experimental and
Theoretical Probability

Compound Events

1. The probability of an event is 84%. Describe the likelihood of the event.

2. You randomly draw a marble from a bag, record its color, and then replace it. You
draw a red marble 7 out of 25 times. What is the experimental probability that
the next marble will be red?

3. Use the table to predict the number of times you will spin 1 when you spin the
spinner 100 times.

4. You choose between red or yellow wallpaper, and orange, red, green, blue, or
purple carpet. Find the total number of possible outcomes when you select
one color of wallpaper and one color of carpet.

5. You roll a six-sided number cube and flip a coin. What is the probability of rolling a
number less than 3 and flipping heads?

6. A claw arcade machine contains stuffed animals and mystery boxes. There are 150
items in the machine. Winning a stuffed animal has twice as many favorable
outcomes as winning a mystery box. How many of each item is in the machine?
(Be sure to answer all parts of the question. (NOTE: Even if you can do this entire
problem in your head you MUST show the steps!)
