To,

Dear Sir,

Greetings from Utkarsh Global Foundation!

We are a non-governmental, non-profit organisation working actively for stray animal

welfare in Mumbai for the last 13 years. Strays are the animals on street or free-
roaming animals. Though a majority of strays are dogs and cats, we also treat all
types of animals and birds.

We have set up an animal hospital at Ambernath, Chhatrapati Shivaji Vegetable

Market, Near Circus Ground, Hajeri Shed, Ambernath West, Thane – 421501.
Through the hospital, we conduct various animal welfare activities to help stray
animals in distress.

One of the important initiatives at the hospital is sterilization and vaccination of stray
animals. It helps in controlling stray population as well as helps prevent fatal
diseases.

We are approaching you for your kind support in our animal welfare initiatives, so
that we, together, can ensure care and help to thousands of strays. It will not only
help in the welfare of the animals, but it will also prevent human-animal conflict.
Another reason – to invoke the humanity within us and spend it for the well-being of
the least cared for living beings.

We kindly request your support in facilitating donations and CSR activities from
organizations and companies situated in MIDC Ambernath, as well as wherever and
however you can assist.

Kindly allow us to give details of our regular campaigns for animal welfare:

I. Free Medical Care Facility for Stray Animals: Utkarsh Animal Hospital is a
fully equipped animal treatment centre.
II. Birth Control Programme and Vaccinations for Stray Animals: We carry
out sterilization of animals with a view to control their population.
III. Stray Together: The main objective behind ‘Stray Together’ initiative is to
reduce human-animal conflict through animal welfare activities and
awareness drives.
IV. Utkarsh-Sanjivani: Utkarsh-Sanjivani Vaccination Scheme which provides
free vaccinations for animals and birds against dreadful diseases including
bird flu, 9-in-1 vaccine for dogs, and more.
V. Voice of Voiceless campaign: Through the participation of general public,
Utkarsh is ensuring every stray has a voice. When a stray or strays are
discharged from our hospital after treatment, Utkarsh team approaches
people in the locality to be the voice of the voiceless animal.
VI. Radium Collars for Strays: Fitting strays with reflective radium collars will
make them visible at night and protect them from speeding vehicles. Utkarsh
also vaccinates the strays before fitting the collars. That’s the dual purpose of
the initiative.
VII. Utkarsh Legal Cell: Utkarsh Legal Cell was set up with a view to address
abuse against animals through legal procedures. We take up more cases
involving neglect, abuse and harm of strays in Mumbai.

How does your help matter?

People might ask you, “Why care about stray animals?” The primary answer is
“Because we are human beings and that is what we do – care for other living
beings.” Your kind contribution can contribute to the larger good involving the welfare
of general public:

To help control stray population as per WHO and government guidelines Stray
animals are a part of our society. The Earth belongs to them as much as it belongs
to us. Strays are usually calm animals but if their population goes beyond control,
there could arise human-animal conflict. There could also be more competition
amongst strays for food and space.

Stray population, especially cats and dogs, multiplies fast. It is only through ABC that
we can ensure their population control. If stray population remains under control and
they remain disease-free through regular vaccinations, the fear of strays will end.

Prevent anima-human transmission of diseases such as rabies: We are an

active partner in government’s ABC Programme and carry out regular sterilization
and vaccination drives with a view to control the population of strays and to help
prevent transmission of fatal diseases such as rabies.

The reason to undertake anti-rabies vaccination drives regularly is to ensure that

there will be no rabid dogs and hence, no risk to human population. It is one of our
main objectives to make Ambernath rabies-free and if we get enough funds, we will
be able to achieve the objective in less than a year.

Our Appeal
We are appealing for your generous support to initiate the above-mentioned stray
animal welfare activities. You can either try to provide financial assistance or donate
in-kind, which is donation of food grains and pulses, medicines, medical equipment,
kennels for cats, birds and dogs, etc.
