Threats and conservation of wetlands and swamps.

Many wetlands
are severely threatened, most humans do not realize to what
extent these biomes are beneficial to the environment. As a result,
we ended up trying to destroy and then build on such areas. In
fact, some refer to wetlands as moorland, which are often drained
and then used for other purposes. Very few think about the plant
and animal life forms that reside in them. Global warming has also
led many wetland biomes to dry up. The extra heat, combined with
less rainfall, often means there isn't enough water to supply them,
many of them getting smaller than they were before. As a result,
they cannot justify the same volume of plants and animals that
they were once able to do. Experts often worry about wetlands as
they appear to be extremely fragile. When there are problems, ...
Like pollution or land not being properly managed, many organizations show up
on the spot with the goal of making everyone more aware of why wetlands are
so important. In some areas, efforts have gone as far as trying to get the courts
to overturn construction on these biomes, some seeking to restore these lands,
and even see them grow rather than be destroyed. It is a complex issue and
with supporters on both sides, both with their own reasons to justify themselves.
Among the main threats to these ecosystems are urban expansion, climate
change, deforestation, burning of vegetation surrounding wetlands, invasion of
exotic species, discharge of household and industrial rivers, diffuse pollution
from agricultural inputs.
