Monthly Meeting 1
Monthly Meeting 1
MEETING NOTES
This is the first monthly in-person meeting with the academic supervisor/s since the start of the project in October 2023, since
we had an LMC meeting in November 2023.
POINTS OF DISCUSSION
• Possible date for the presentation of findings from the memo about status quo, SWOT analysis, and the
upcoming market analysis.
• Its been decided that all three documents (because of their complimentary nature) will be presented in one
presentation at the end of January 2024. - invitee list to be discussed with Linda to see if Nick and Andrew
would want to be included in it.
• I will be on annual leave the following week and will not be able to attend the weekly catch-up meeting.
SWOT ANALYSIS:
○ Discussed the SWOT analysis draft (uploaded on Teams channel).
Notes for improvement:
○ Strengths - This section reads better now with more argumentation and explanation to each point. It would be
helpful to add how unique all those points are against other competitors - possibly part of the market analysis
since these strengths are typically internal in SWOT analysis.
○ Weaknesses - Reframe the 'lack of data' point to sound nicer and add more detail and explanation to it, avoid
making it sound harsh. Add examples.
○ Opportunities - more detail and add examples. Make point 2 more concrete. Clarify ‘partnership' expansion
point.
○ Threats - "Perceived" cost-effectiveness - NEVER CHANGE TERMINOLOGY, CHANGES
EVERYTHING (note for future self too).
○ Notes - Remove the greenwashing point - but worth a talking point.
Both the documents will evolve as time goes and become more refined when I uncover new information. SWOT
analysis should be able to be a standalone document but shouldn't be excessively detailed as the memo and the
market analysis will go along with it.
TRAINING:
○ Qualitative Research course by UC Davis on Coursera - first on priority based on our project requirements.
○ Introductory courses on R (already enrolled into Harvard courses) - can explore Uni of Bath library, Sage, 'Get
Started with R Markdown' on Coursera
○ R Markdown is helpful to generate a neat code and output document.
○ Remote desktop on Bath laptop will give me access to Stata
○ Essex Summer School - browse courses and choose. Enrolling into experimental method courses would be more
helpful than just 'introductory courses'.
