OVERVIEW
"Pygmalion" is a play about a poor
flower girl named Eliza. A teacher,
Henry Higgins, tries to change the
way she talks and behaves to
make her a proper lady. The story
talks about social classes, how
people see themselves, and how
language affects how others see
us.

PLOT ACT ONE

It starts with Professor Higgins meeting


Eliza, a flower girl with a strong accent.
Higgins thinks he can change her speech,
so he takes her in and trains her. By the
end of Act One, Higgins is confident he
can pass her off as a duchess.
ACT TWO
Eliza continues to learn from Professor
Higgins. She is working hard to speak and
act in a new way. The act talks about
learning, changing, and the special place
where all of this is happening which is in
Higgins's Home
PLOT ACT TWO
Eliza goes through intense speech lessons and becomes
really good at speaking properly. But it seems like Higgins is
more focused on the technical stuff and doesn't really care
about Eliza's feelings. She starts feeling trapped and
frustrated. At the garden party, she impresses everyone by
pretending to be a duchess. But then she confronts Higgins
about how he treats her and decides to leave his home.
She's not sure what's next, but she's determined to make her
own path. It sounds like a really intense and emotional
journey for Eliza.
