How Sound Travels
How Sound Travels
into our ears. The stronger the vibrations, the louder the sound. Sound are fainter
the further you get from the sound source.
Vibration is a movement when object make sound move back and forth. Without
vibration, sound will not be produced.
The vibrations travel through another medium (Solid, Liquid,or Air) to the ear.
SOLID
Sounds travels fastest through solids. This is because molecules in a solid medium
are much closer together than those in a liquid or gas.
Sound cant travel through empty space where there are no molecules to
vibrate.
LIQUID
Sound travels faster in liquids.
AIR
The sounds travels through the air, through the oscillation of compression and
rarefaction of air molecules.
Sound changes depending on how fast or slow an object vibrates to make sound
waves. Pitch is the quality of the sound (High or Low) and depends on the speed of
the vibrations.
