The word “Housekeeping” refers to the upkeep and maintenance cleanliness and in order
in a house or lodging establishment
- means performing all the duties towards sweeping, polishing, vacuuming, maintaining
orderliness, and removing waste materials (e.g., paper, cardboard) and other fire hazards free
from Hotel & property. In case of hotels, the housekeeping responsibilities include maintaining
the Hotel to the best possible state in terms of cleanliness and keeping it at a highly desirable
ambiance.
The housekeeping department is responsible for ensuring that the facility is clean, safe,
and comfortable for guests to stay in. This involves a range of activities, including cleaning
and maintenance of guest rooms, public areas, and managing guest complaints.
A housekeeper is one who is responsible for administering housekeeping maintenance and ensuring that
everything is in order. The housekeeper sees to it that all guests are comfortable, safe and protected
from disease-causing bacteria are responsible for cleaning and reporting any safety hazards to the
homeowner or manager in charge. They must complete tasks like vacuuming, sweeping, emptying trash
cans, dusting shelves, cleaning windows, and mopping floors. Some Housekeepers change linens, wash
dishes, and do light ironing and laundry.
