NTRODUCTION

A Regional administration act is legal framework enacted in Tanzania to restructure a regional

administration, and strengthening the promotion of the local government system. Since it outline
mechanism in resource allocation in supporting developing of both local and regional authorities and
ensuring social economic and environmental development

Key aspect of regional administration act

1. Short title and application

This act is officially known as regional administration act it as been shown in section 1 of the regional
administration act cap 97 R:E 2009, where as it applies to the exercise of executive functions of
government across mainland Tanzania, Essentially, it governs how regional and local government
authorities operate and all the interpretation of the act will have the same meaning unless the contexts
needs otherwise which includes local government district authorities and local government urban
authorities as per section 3 of the regional administration.

2. Purpose and significance

- the regional administration act was enacted to address the need for a more efficient and effective
regional administrative structure. It means th by restructuring regional administration, it seeks to
enhance local governance,empower local authorities and improve service delivery to citizens. This move
aligns with broader efforts to decentralize decision making and promote community participation.
