their time well when assessments are done.
▪ The ELEVATE – KICKSTART study workshop has been arranged for your son/s
and will be opened as a project on D6 a month before the end of Term 1.
Elevate offers many study workshops for parents that are informative and will

assessments.

from Grade 1 to 6, aligning it with the drafted Curriculum
and Assessment Statements from the Department of
Education.
They provide age-appropriate robots tailored for each
grade.

group projects, tests, and online assessments, will be
utilized to evaluate learners. Learners will receive a mark
on their reports starting from Term 2.

and animations through coding.
DIARY

▪ A school diary will not be provided

for this year by the school.
▪ We would like to request that
parents purchase an A5 diary for your
son/s to write their homework down.
▪ Homework must be written down at
the end of each lesson and is
checked by after school caregivers or
parents.
▪ It is an invaluable skill to write their
homework and plan their days using
this tool.
Tips to help your son:
• Increased subjects within the new phase for Grade 4 can be
overwhelming. Discuss these subjects with your son/s find
connections in discussions to make it relevant and enjoyable.
• Ensure that morning routine is organised. Many boys often arrive
to school anxious due to being late. Register teachers are
required to complete absenteeism during register period and
learners will be marked absent if late for this period. Please help
your son/s start the day in a calm and relaxed manner to help
them remain focussed throughout the day.
• Only one item of stationery should be in his pencil case and
marked with his name.
• Praise your child on merits received and support the school with
demerits.
• Textbooks – Each teacher has a set of textbooks in class. The boys
personal textbooks do not need to be brought to school and are
kept at home for revision or homework.

ABSENTEEISM
If your child is absent or has been absent, please inform the school by e-
mailing the register teacher.
Absenteeism during exams or for a formal tests will require a doctor’s
certificate.
It is every learners’ responsibility to make sure that the work that has
been missed is caught up neatly and properly.
Please try to make specialist or doctor’s appointments in the afternoon
or during the school holidays. We understand that this is difficult but
instructional time is lost and this does not benefit the learners.
BREAK
▪ The school timetable has been altered
across all phases. The boys will have
one break per day at 10:50, which is 40
minutes in length.
▪ We know that this is a long time for our
learners and as a phase we have
communicated the following:
▪ There will be a snack time at 9:20.
Learners may bring an easy, no mess-no
fuss snack into their fourth period lesson
to eat. This will tide our boys over till
break.
▪ Learners will be allowed to go to the
toilet during lesson time within reason.
▪ This is an adjustment but we will
support our boys in this change.
Teachers are prepared to take brain
breaks and assess the focus in all their
lessons.
Demerits
Please read the Code of Conduct offences so
that you are informed on what the expectations
are for your son/s.
In class, learners will receive three warnings
before a demerit is applied.
Merits
Good behaviour shall be awarded in the form of merits.
If a boy receives, 10 merits they will be issued with a
reward slip and can claim their merit civvies the next
Friday.
NO other rewards can be selected this year.
Merit civvies may ONLY be worn on Friday.
Dragon Award is still up for grabs and boys must aim high
from day one.

process from Foundation Phase to Intermediate, please check that you have the D6 app on your phone
