Regarding Japanese Language Class at Terakoya Academia.

I had joined to Terakoya Academia as a Japanese Language Teacher on 2021 Jan 4 th and worked
at Terakoya Academia up to 2023 July, from 1st batch to 6th batch of JAPAL.

Before the class was runs for 6 months but now the same course finished on 5 months. Japanese
Language class runs from morning 9 am to evening 6 pm, between this time 1 pm to 2pm is a
break time. From now on I would like to talk about the flow of the Japanese language class.

From 9 am the class starts, the schedule from 9 am to 10 pm were morning exercise (rajio
Taishyo), after that morning discussion regarding the yesterday`s class and what we going to
study today. Each day 1 student present there speaking on any topic they like between this time.
Each day morning test of kanji, word meaning, making sentences of 30 minutes.

10am – 1pm
The main course time. In this time the main textbook minna no nihongo is used. Vocabulary
introduction, grammar introduction, sentence introduction and using method. Renshyuu B
practice, Listening task and mondai task.
And each day 10 kanji is introduced to the students with easy to remember mnemonic hint.
These days around 1 hour communication time has been added between this time. Communication
with the member of japal`s team in Japan.

1pm-2 pm
This is the lunch break time and students can play table tennis, badminton, chess and carrom
board for the refreshment between this time.

2pm – 3pm
This 1 hour is communication time with the native Japanese citizen who are in Nepal and with the
Japan return engineer who works at TAI. This is the free talking time for the practice of speaking.
In this time they learn about the real Japan, TAI employee shares their experience, learns to do
calligraphy, origami etc.

3pm – 4pm
This 1 hour is video time. Leaning Japanese language through Japanese drama and video. Drama
and video like 1 liter of tears, mr hiragi`s homeroom, tonarino Totoro etc. were used for the
learning.
4pm – 5pm
Japanese book with teach the Japanese culture Yoroshiku Guide is used for this time. This book
teaches about greetings, sitting posture, Japanese manners, discipline, use of chopstick,
horenshou, etc.

5pm – 6pm
The new book Irodori is used in this time.
Irodori teaches Japanese for different daily situations in Japan, including working, shopping,
having fun, eating, and interacting with other people. The objective of this textbook is to increase
what you can do using Japanese in real-life situations in Japan. These are called “Can-dos.”
