This document outlines three project proposals from Group 5 members Blessy Marie Del Rosario, Charissa Chua, Justine Anne Oriño Duka, Mary Elisha Tiqui, and Rhona Liza Cruz. The first proposal compares transportation modes in the UP Diliman campus, the second analyzes the economical costs of different straw materials, and the third examines installing energy and cost-efficient streetlamps on campus. Each proposal includes a title, problem description, proposed solutions, and potential data sources.

Project Proposal 1
● Title: Comparison of Transportation Modes in UP Diliman Campus
● Introduction/Problem description (significance, impact) – What is more accessible, effective, efficient, mode of transportation for UP students inside the campus? This would benefit students who travel from class to class using public vehicles inside the campus, especially those whose classes are at very far buildings from their previous classes. ● Proposed Alternative solution/s ○ E-jeepney ○ E-kot ○ Train system ● Possible sources of data/information ○ https://www.gmanetwork.com/news/scitech/technology/507218/the-up-e-kot-coul d-be-diliman-s-next-iconic-vehicle/story/ ○ https://www.liveabout.com/rail-transit-projects-costs-2798796 ○ https://www.topgear.com.ph/tag/electric-jeepney ○ https://www.gmanetwork.com/news/scitech/technology/507218/the-up-e-kot-coul d-be-diliman-s-next-iconic-vehicle/story/ ○ https://www.topgear.com.ph/news/motoring-news/dost-filipino-made-hybrid-elect ric-train-a4354-20190425 Project Proposal 2 ● Title: Comparison of the Economical Costs of Different Kinds of Straws ● Introduction/Problem description (significance, impact) – Now a days, more people are finding new ways on how to live a greener life. One of the most popular trends is the usage of reusable straws (metal, bamboo, glass). But, this sparked debates whether which straw is indeed the best. Thus, this is what this proposal wants to tackle: to determine which type of reusable straw is the most environmentally friendly. ● Proposed Alternative solution/s ○ Metal Straw ○ Bamboo Straw ○ Plastic Straw ● Possible sources of data/information ○ https://www.nationalgeographic.com/magazine/2019/07/rethinking-plastic-straws -consider-these-options/ ○ https://relay.nationalgeographic.com/proxy/distribution/public/amp/environment/ 2018/07/news-plastic-drinking-straw-history-ban
Project Proposal 3
● Title: Installation of energy and cost-efficient streetlamps inside UP Diliman Campus
● Introduction/Problem description (significance, impact) – There is lack of well-functioning streetlamps in some areas of UP Diliman campus. What is more energy and cost-efficient streetlamps? This would benefit people who travel at nights inside the campus, especially UP students who have late night classes, as well as graduate students, faculty, and staff. This would be relevant for people such as drivers, riders, and pedestrians walking at night. Moreover, this would contribute to the security around the UP Diliman Campus ● Proposed Alternative solution/s ○ Streetlamps ○ Solar streetlight ○ Energy storing streetlight ○ Kinetic powered streetlights ● Possible sources of data/information ○ https://www.businessinsider.com/las-vegas-to-power-streetlights-by-footsteps-20 16-3 ○ https://arlingtonva.s3.dualstack.us-east-1.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/sit es/19/2017/03/16May2014_Streetlight_Specifications.pdf
