u Select [FEPx] and set the upper measured value at which the frequency set under [FrPx] (= 100 %)
is output.
[FEPx] is only available for flow measurement if the [GAS] or [LIQU] mode is selected.
u Select [FrPx] and set the frequency for the upper measured value in Hz.
The parameter settings for [FSP], [FEP] and [FrP] can be changed subsequently in the main
menu.
Minimum distance between ASP and AEP = 20 % of the final value of the measuring range.
For flow measurement in the operating mode REL, ASP and AEP are not available. In this
operating mode, the characteristic curve of the analogue output is defined by the flow
adjustment: high flow = 20 mA; low flow = 4 mA.
If the measured value is outside the measuring range or in the event of an internal error, the current
signal indicated in the following figure is provided.
For measured values outside the display range or in case of a fault, messages are displayed (UL, OL,

10.5.1 Medium
The sensor has different media characteristics that can be selected via the [MEdI] parameter. The
selection of media depends on the selected operating mode.
If the [GAS] mode is selected, [AIR] is preset as the medium and cannot be changed.
10.5.3 Damping
The set damping constant stabilises the output signals. Abrupt changes in the physical process values
are smoothed out.
This concerns the outputs, the display and the process value transmission via the IO-Link interface.
The damping constant is added to the response time of the sensor (Ò Technical data).
30
Flow sensor SAxxxx
The UL and OL signals are defined under consideration of the damping time.
Measured value damping only has an effect on the measured variable flow.
10.5.4.1 Parameter setting via unit keys: Error behaviour of the outputs
u Call up the menu [EF] > [CFG].
u Select [FOUx] and set the error behaviour for OUTx: On, OFF, OU.

u Select [drx] and set the delay for resetting OUTx in seconds.
[dSx] and [drx] are only available if a switching signal (Hno, Hnc, Fno, Fnc) is selected for
OUTx.
[dSx] and [drx] are only available if a switching signal (Hno, Hnc, Fno, Fnc) is selected for
OUTx.
10.5.6 Calibration
The calibration factor [CGA] is used to adjust the temperature-viscosity compensation of the sensor to
the characteristics of the medium used. The calibration factor influences the slope of the measurement
characteristic of the flow measurement.
The slope modification of the measurement characteristic is indicated in per cent. The factory
setting is [CGA] = 100%. After a change the calibration can be reset to factory setting.
MW 2
Depending on the set CGA factor, it may not be possible to use the complete measuring range.

12 Troubleshooting
The unit has many self-diagnostic options. It monitors itself automatically during operation.
Warnings and error states are displayed even if the display is switched off. Error indications are also
available via IO-Link.
The status signals are classified according to NAMUR recommendation NE107.
If several diagnostic events occur simultaneously, only the diagnostic message of the event with the
highest priority is displayed.
Additional diagnostic functions are available via IO-Link Ò IO-Link interface description at
documentation.ifm.com.
