and wasn't planning to change anything. She was determined (рішучою) to work

always. On Tuesday, she came to work thinking that she was going to do her usual
tasks. However, her co-worker informed her that a manager was looking for her
and wanted to talk to her about something very important. Alice was confused
and terrified (перелякана) because usually, if there were any additional
(додатковий) tasks to complete, she would have received an email from him. She
had a feeling that something had happened.
So, she waited until (доти)a morning meeting was over so that she could
talk to her manager and then went straight to his office. As soon as she entered
his office, he offered her to take a seat and began his conversation by describing
her as a motivated and determined employee.

compliments didn’t help her stop feeling confused and terrified, although she was
