If organic materials such as walnut shells are used for cleaning the turbine in the
turbocharger, debris from the organic materials will clog the catalytic elements in the
NOR system due to the small holes (approx. 2,5 mm x 2,5 mm in size).
CAUTION:
Do not operate the engines if the catalytic elements are clogged!
Recommendation
· Follow the instructions below regarding NOR.
· Follow the engine maker’s instructions about cleaning the turbochargers!
· Please contact the engine maker for approval to use organic materials.
ATTENTION:
It is strongly recommended to clean the turbochargers on Wärtsilä 4-stroke engines
using the wet cleaning procedure, Wärtsilä does not recommend the use of organic
material for cleaning the turbochargers.
