HUSC 1100 Self Reflection About Me
Hello
I am a mother of two, one with special needs. I go to college full time and work full time.
I'm Andrea and find immense fulfillment as an Early Childhood Special Education
paraprofessional at Katy ISD. I am passionate about promoting rights and advocacy on behalf of
those children who might not even have the independence to say something themselves. It's a
demanding yet highly gratifying task since equipping these young minds with the tools they need
to navigate their way toward kindergarten and beyond is truly amazing. Although the job is
In my daily interaction, I encounter children with special needs and am further reminded
of the broad range of their abilities and challenges. However, there needs to be more awareness
among the public regarding various demands for these youngsters and available programs to
improve their situation. For me, it is an honor to be associated with the cause of filling this gap
and contributing towards a society that becomes less prejudiced. In my practice, I aim to shine
the light on the true might of every child, promoting a space for their unfolding.
attending HCC, I have selected this area for its significant contribution to my enduring desire and
determination in the lives of special needs children. Although an online education program
relevant to my chosen concentration in education did not exist, this journey has provided me with
a broader human sciences landscape that elevates one's understanding of more complex issues
