This document provides guidelines for parking and mooring a helicopter based on forecast wind velocities. For winds less than 20 knots, the helicopter should be positioned headed into the wind with the rotor brake engaged and protective covers installed on components like the pitot tube. For winds from 20-40 knots, blade straps should also be installed. From 40-60 knots, mooring plates and ropes should secure the helicopter. If winds exceed 60 knots, the helicopter should park in a hangar if possible. The document includes diagrams demonstrating recommended procedures.

SECTION 00 – GENERAL DESCRIPTION
DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION RECOMENDATIONS
To prevent damage to the helicopter when it is parked outside, in The Pitot tube cover must be installed at least 5 min, after Pitot normal or adverse weather conditions, it is necessary to protect and heat has been switched off. The engine exhaust covers must be secure the helicopter according to the following procedures. installed at least 30 min. after engine shut down. If the helicopter is to be parked for an extended period and/or in When forecast wind velocity is less than 20 kts: adverse weather conditions, install all weather protective covers - Position helicopter on a levelled surface and headed into wind. - Engage rotor brake If helicopter has been subjected to high velocity wind, inspect - Check that all switches are "OFF" helicopter for damage which may have been caused by flying - Close all access doors and access panels objects, and mooring points for damage. - Install protective cover on Pitot tube, engine air intake and engine exhaust ducts. When forecast wind velocity is 20 to 40 kts: - Proceed as written in the preceding paragraph - Install main and tail rotor blade straps If forecast wind velocity is 40 to 60 kts moor helicopter as follows: - Proceed as written in the preceding paragraph - Fill fuel tanks up to the total capacity - Install mooring plates - Secure landing skid cross tubes and mooring plates, to tie down rings with manila rope of appropriate length If forecast wind velocity exceeds 60 kts, park helicopter in a safe area (hangar if possible).
