How to use the Demand Planner Training Manual

The Demand Planner training manual is designed to be used in conjunction with
classroom training or by self-studiers. The first six chapters are an overview of
the functionality of Demand Planner. Most of the exercises and examples in these
chapters refer to the Demand Planner Bikes database, that is a pre-configured and
pre-populated with sample data. It can be used for training of Demand Planner
Client and Demand Planner Collaborative components. The last four chapters are
a guide to installing and configuring a new Demand Planner application by the
Demand Planner Configuration Tool. The exercises for these chapters refer to the
Microsoft Dynamics AX standard demo database (Lights) and take you through a
scenario of setting up a company that sells lights to use Demand Planner for
forecasting its sales. It is important to understand that the first six chapters deal
with how to use Demand Planner, while the last four chapters involve the set up
of the application. The philosophy of this manual is to show you how to use
Demand Planner first; then how to install and configure it later. Much of the
setup and configuration requires a working knowledge of the functionality; thus
the decision to first show you how Demand Planner works and then show you
how to set it up. To complete the exercises in this manual requires the installation
of the Demand Planner Bike database included in the Demand Planner package
and the Microsoft Dynamics AX Lights database, the standard demo dataset of
Microsoft Dynamics AX.
