INTRODUCTION

Cacao powder is a versatile and nutritious ingredient derived from the beans of

Theobroma cacao trees. It is made by removing the cacao butter (fat) from the

beans and processing the remaining solids into a fine, dry powder. It possesses

a rich, deep chocolate flavor with a slightly bitter undertone. It is loaded with an-

tioxidants, particularly flavonoids, which help protect cells from oxidative damage.

It is also fortified with minerals like iron, magnesium, potassium, and fiber, mak-

ing it a nutritionally dense choice. It contains compounds like theobromine and

phenylethylamine, which can contribute to mood enhancement and feelings of

well-being. Additionally, it is packed with natural stimulants, such as theobromine

and caffeine, which can provide a gentle energy boost. It is widely used to make

chocolate-flavored cakes, brownies, cookies, and other desserts. Besides this, it

is also utilized to prepare hot chocolate, chocolate milk, and chocolate-flavored

smoothies. Moreover, it can be incorporated into spice rubs for meats or added

to chili and mole sauces to provide a unique depth of flavor. (Cacao Powder

ginger tea powder with and without sugar, blue ternate powder, moringa

tea powder, and cacao powder with 5-in-1 turmeric blend. Paglinawan Or-

ganic Eco Farm is a 10-hectare agriculture eco-tourism farm site that of-

fers a variety of organic products. The farm has been able to stay ahead

and remain in business by diversifying and innovating its products while

also promoting health to its customers.

The Paglinawan Organic Eco Farm was selected as the author's training

ground, providing a practical environment to apply various management

practices acquired in the classroom. This opportunity aims to enhance basic

management skills and deepen the author's understanding of aspects that

complements academic learning, which are essential for the farm's daily

activities. The author's active involvement in the farm operations facilitated the

acquisition of knowledge and skills pertinent to the actual functioning of

agribusiness firms. The immersive experience at Paglinawan Organic Eco Farm

served as a valuable extension of the author's education, offering insights and

practical application that goes beyond theoretical understanding. This hands-on

approach contributes to a more comprehensive skill set and prepares the author

for the dynamic challenges within the agribusiness sector.

2
Objectives of the Study

Generally, the case study will aim to observe and assess the overall

operations and management practices of Paglinawan Organic Eco Farm.

Specifically, the study will aim to:

1. Perform management-related activities in the agribusiness firm;

2. Identify the problems (faced by the firm in the focused area and

commodity); and;

3. Generate the best solutions to the main problem identified.

Significance of the Study

The case study aims to apply theoretical knowledge acquired by the

author in academic settings to the practical realm of business operations. This

endeavor offers the author an opportunity to enhance their understanding of

managing a real business and cultivate critical thinking skills in decision-making.

The study will further assist the author in formulating potential strategies, utilizing

SWOT analysis to evaluate the farm's future operations.

For the farm owners and management, this study will serve as a valuable

reference and guide for implementing best strategies related to the farm's

development.

Additionally, for prospective agribusiness interns, this study holds

significance as it provides essential information that can serve as a reference for

3
their own research endeavors, particularly in the processing of cacao powder

with a 5-in-1 turmeric blend. Moreover, it contributes insights into the farm's

background history.

Scope and Limitations of the Study

Paglinawan Organic Eco Farm is a 10-hectare agriculture eco-tourism

farm site that offers a variety of organic products. The farm produces organically

grown black, brown, and white rice. Additionally, it produces and processes

herbal products such as 5-in-1 turmeric tea powder (turmeric, ginger,

lemongrass, moringa, and soursop), pure turmeric and ginger tea powder with

and without sugar, blue ternate powder, moringa tea powder, and cacao powder

with 5-in-1 turmeric blend. However, this study will focus only on the processing

of cacao powder with 5-in-1 turmeric blend.

Additionally, the study will be conducted over a 300-hour period,

commencing on February 12, 2024, and concluding on April 12, 2024. This

timeframe may impose limitations on the depth of the longitudinal analysis, and

external factors beyond the researcher's control could exert influence on the

study's outcomes. Acknowledging and understanding these limitations is

essential for ensuring accurate interpretation and providing guidance for future

research in a more comprehensive manner.

4
METHODOLOGY

Location and Time of the Study

This study will be conducted at the Paglinawan Organic Eco Farm, located

in Purok 6, Libertad, Dumingag, Zamboanga del Sur. The case study will span

300 hours, covering a two-month period starting from February 12, 2024, to April

12, 2024.

Data to be Gathered

There will be two types of data to be gathered in this study: primary and

secondary data. These two types of data will be used to assess the farm in

relation to the four functional areas of management: organizational and

management, marketing, production, and finance.

Data Gathering Procedure

The collection of primary data will involve observing management

strategies and actively participating in operational activities related to the

production of cacao powder with a 5-in-1 turmeric blend. This will include

conducting personal interviews with the owner, the processing site manager, and

other personnel involved in farm processing.

As for secondary data, it will be obtained from the farm's most recent

records and files. Additionally, information pertaining to the agricultural industry

will be gathered from reputable sources found on internet websites. This two-fold

approach is designed to offer a comprehensive examination, covering both

internal farm processes and broader industry insights.

Data Presentation and Analysis

The acquired data will be visually represented through figures, charts,

diagrams, and tables. A SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and

Threats) analysis will be conducted to assess the internal and external factors

influencing the farm operation. These factors will be combined to formulate

prospective strategies and recommendations for the enhancement of forthcoming

operations, particularly in the production of cacao powder featuring a 5-in-1

turmeric blend. This comprehensive approach is designed to contribute to the

overall enhancement and sustainability of the farm's activities.
