WING ANTI-ICE USES HOT ENGINE BLEED AIR FOR BOTH USE ON THE GROUND AND IN
THE AIR.

BLEED AIR TO THE ENGINE INLET COWLS IS INHIBITED DURING TAKE-OFF TO CONSERVE
ENGINE THRUST. THERE ARE MICROSWITCHES INSTALLED ON THE AUTOTHROTTLE
SWITCHPACK.

THERE IS A BIMETALLIC WTAI OVERHEAT SWITCH TO CLOSE THE WTAI SHUTOFF VALVE
WHEN TEMPERATURE EXCEEDS 125C. PROTECTION ONLY OPERATES ON THE GROUND.

THE WTAI SOLENOID BLEEDS ACTUATOR PRESSURE FROM THE PRECOOLER CONTROL
VALVE. THIS CAUSES THE PRECOOLER CONTROL VALVE TO FULLY OPEN AND GIVE
MAXIMUM COOLING TO THE ENGINE BLEED AIR AND PROTECT THE WING LEADING
EDGES ON THE GROUND ONLY.

ONLY 1 SWITCH ON P5 PANEL TO OPERATE THE WTAI SOV

EACH ENGINE SUPPLIES ITS OWN SOURCE OF TAI WHICH VENTS OVERBOARD AT THE
BOTTOM OF THE COWL.

A TAI PRESSURE SWITCH MONITORS THE PRESSURE DOWNSTREAM OF THE ANTI ICING
VALVE. IF PRESSURE EXCEEDS 65PSI THE AMBER LIGHT ON THE P5 AND MASTER
CAUTION WILL ILLUMINATE.

THE VALVE IS ELECTRICALLY OPERATED, AND IS A PNEUMATICALLY CONTROLLED


BUTTERFLY VALVE, NORMALLY SPRING LOADED CLOSED. MODULATES PRESSURE TO
50PSI.

THE POSITION OF THE ENG TAI IS DISPLAYED ON THE CDS IN GREEN OR YELLOW.

2 TYPES OF P5 WINDOW/PROBE MODULES. EFF 281 (EI-ENE) HAS AN ‘AUTO’ SWITCH


FOR PROBE HEAT, WHICH WHEN THE ENGINES ARE RUNNING WILL AUTOMATICALLY
HEAT THE PROBES

IF AMBER PROBE HEAT LIGHT ILLUMINATES THE RELATED PROBE IS NOT DRAWING
POWER.

EACH PROBE USES 115VAC FOR POWER AND 28VDC FOR CURRENT DETECTION.

THE AOA SENSOR HAS 2 INTEGRAL HEATERS FOR THE VANE AND THE CASE BUT THE
CASE DOES NOT HAVE CURRENT DETECTION

RYR 737NG HAVE ANTI-ICING FOR WINDOW 1L & 1R AND ALSO 2L & 2R. HEATING
ALSO IMPROVES WINDOW IMPACT STRENGTH.

WHCU CONTROLS AND INDICATION ARE ON THE P5 OVERHEAD PANELS.


EACH WINDOW HAS ITS OWN WHCU IN THE E&E COMPT..

WINDOW 1L & 1R HAVE A PRIMARY TEMP SENSOR AND A SPARE TEMP SENSOR. YOU
CAN SWICTH FROM PRIMARY TO SPARE BY MOVING A SWITCH IN THE E&E COMPT.. ON
THE E4 STANCHION.
FOR 2L & 2R YOU MUST MOVE A TERMINAL ON THE WINDOW UNIT.

WHEN REPLACING A WINDOW IT MAY BE NECESSARY TO MOVE TAPS ON THE WINDOW


HEAT TERMINAL BLOCK, IN THE E&E COMPT.. TO MATCH WINDOW RESISTANCE.

WHEN THERE IS CURRENT FLOW TO A WINDOW THE GREEN ‘ON’ LIGHT ILLUMINATES

THE WINDSHIELD WIPER SYSTEM REMOVES RAIN, SLEET &SNOW FROM THE 1L & 1R
WINDOWS ONLY.

2 CONTROL SWITCHES ON THE P5 PANEL FOR PARK, INT, LOW & HIGH.

EACH WINDSHIELD WIPER HAS 28VDC MOTOR DRIVE CONNECTED TO A WIPER AND
WIPER BLADE.

NEVER OPERATE A WINDSHIELD WIPER ON A DRY WINDOW !!!

THERE IS ALSO A HYDROPHOBIC WINDSHIELD COATING ON THE 1L & 1R WINDOWS TO


REPEL WATER DROPLETS.
