Each half milliliter collected was titrated to determine the concentration of acetic acid in
the sample. Titration uses NaOH to neutralize the acid. If we know the concentration of
𝑚𝑜𝑙 𝑠𝑜𝑙𝑢𝑡𝑒
NaOH we can determine the concentration of acid in the sample using 𝑀 = .
𝐿 𝑠𝑜𝑙𝑢𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛

In a titration, we use an indicator that changes color when the number of moles of the
base is the same as the number of moles of the acid. The solution turns pale pink.
The six samples collected from the distillation were titrated with 1.0 M NaOH.
