tariff measures, and commitments in many
services sectors.

Agricultural Challenges:

The reduction of tariffs and trade barriers has

exposed the Philippine agricultural sector to
increased competition. This can be challenging for
small-scale farmers who may face difficulties
competing with heavily subsidized agricultural
products from other countries.

While trade liberalization can contribute to overall economic
growth, it may also exacerbate income inequality. Some sectors
and individuals may benefit more than others, leading to social
and economic disparities.
Policy Constraints:
Adherence to WTO rules may limit the flexibility of the
Philippines in implementing certain domestic policies, especially
if these policies are perceived as trade-restrictive. This can
constrain the country's ability to pursue certain developmental
strategies.
