SHE WAS AT HER OWN FUNERAL

Scene 1

Waking up from her sleep, Farah felt like it'd been a long time since she slept this
long. She feels good and much lighter than usual.

Scene 2

She got out of bed and did her morning ritual. She fixed her bed, cleaned her room,
and did a quick stretch before leaving her room. Now that everything was clean, she left
her room and went straight to the kitchen.

*walks away to go to the kitchen

Scene 3

While she's walking to the kitchen, she notices that she's alone in their house.
That's when she remembered that they were supposed to go on vacation today, but she
got up late. She sighed in disbelief. "How can I forget that we're leaving today?" she
asked herself. She just brushed it off and decided to go outside for a walk and visit some
friends.

Scene 4

While walking, she observes her surroundings. It’s the first time that she's taken a
look at the people around her. She saw kids playing happily, couples having fun, and
some people that were alone and observing just like her.

Scene 5

As she was about to take another step, a familiar smell stopped her. It was her
favorite flower shop, where she always bought tulips, her favorite flower.

She went inside the flower shop and was about to greet the owner, her friend.
“Good morning, Ms. Juarez!" she greeted while wearing her beautiful smile. A boy
came out, but he ignored her. In her mind, maybe her friend went somewhere.

Scene 7

Disappointed, Farah left the flower shop.

*gets saddened and walks away the opposite direction

Scene 8

She’s now walking again, and this time she came across the park and decided to
meet her favorite dog. She has been looking around the park for about half an hour now,
but the dog and its owner are nowhere to be found. Farah feels sad again. She left the
park and decided to go to her favorite food spot.

Scene 9

Walking again, she feels like everyone left her. She stopped in front of the
restaurant owned by Mr. and Mrs. Gomez, who became her friends too. She read the
sign hanging on the door, and it says closed. Farah loses hope and starts walking again.

Scene 10

This time she doesn’t know where her feet are taking her, but she just continues
to walk until she reaches the cemetery. It is quiet and feels cozy. “Where is everyone?
Why did they leave me?", she asks herself. It’s the first time that she went to the
cemetery alone, so she decided to roam around and visit her grandmother’s tomb. She
always hated going to the cemetery because she’s always reminded of her grandmother’s
death.

me?"

Scene 11

When she reached the place where her grandmother rests, she noticed that there
were a lot of people gathering there. She went up close, and that’s when she saw her
friend from the flower shop, her favorite dog, and the old couple from the restaurant. They
are all here. She took a few steps forward and saw her family. They are all sad, crying,
and wearing black shirts. “Who died?", she asks herself. An unfamiliar boy caught her
attention. She looks at the face of the boy carefully, and that is when her memories come
flashing back.

Scene 12

They were on their way to the airport when they stopped over to buy food. Farah
was waiting for her mother and sister outside the car when suddenly a boy ran on the
road and tripped. Farah saw a truck coming; she ran fast to save the boy, then everything
went black.

Scene 13

She froze, unable to move. Tears start falling down her face. She mustered up the
strength and walked towards the coffin. Looking at herself lying down in her death bed.
She can’t help but feel bitter and stupid. “They didn’t leave me. I’m the one who left.”

Scene 14

She went near her mother, who was crying while holding her favorite flower. She
smiled because her mother bought it for her. “I’m so sorry for leaving early. I’ll rest
now. I love you, Mom.” She did not see this coming. That she will leave the world at a
young age. And the fact that, she was at her own funeral.
